Surnames: Schroeder, Overbeck Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Tk.2ADE/2393 Message Board Post: Mrs. Louse Schroeder Passes At Home Maria Carolina Louise Overbeck was born February 17, 1854, at Ceres, Clayton county Iowa, and passed away at her home in Postville on Friday morning, September 4, 1931, aged 77 years, six months, and 18 days. In infancy she was baptized and on March 28,1869, she was confirmed in St. Peter's Lutheran church at Ceres, which is now known as the Pioneer Rock church. December 28, 1875, she was married to Bernhard Frederick Schroeder, who preceded her in death fourteen years ago, July 1, 1917. This union was blessed with eight children, one son, Rudolph, passing in infancy. Those surviving to mourn their mother are Mrs. W.A. Meier, Castalia; John A. Schroeder, Postville; Mrs. Carl Welzel, Postville; Mrs. Edward Knodt, Rich Valley, Minn.; Mrs. Albert Gulsvig, St. Olaf; Amelia of Cedar Rapids, who returned home a year ago, faithfully and lovingly caring for her mother; and Louise at home. Besides the children she leaves fifteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Also two brothers, Henry Overbeck of Glenfield, North Dakota, and Christ Overbeck of Luana. After her marriage she resided with her husband at Guttenberg. In 1877 they moved to a farm near Luana, where they resided until 1890, when they located on a farm two miles south of Postville. In 1909 they retired and moved to Postville. Mrs. Schroeder was a communicant member of St. Paul's Lutheran church and a member of St. Paul's Ladies' Aid Society. She was a faithful and loving mother, a kind neighbor and a friend, who se passing will bring a pang of sorrow to all who knew this splendid Christian woman. (rest of clipping is missing)
