My GGGrandfather John S Peterson brought his family to Lansing about 1867. His wife was Caroline. Children are Charles b 1867. Alma b 1861 and Jennie b abt 1864. I found them, I think, in Centre Twp except The head of house hold is listed as E. S. Peterson. All the ages fit except E. S. He is listed as 31 and Caroline is 39. I realize there could be misspellings and mistakes in the ages. Is there a name starting with E that is the same as John? Is there a possibility that E.S died there and Caroline remarried a John S Peterson? They show up in the 1880 census in Rock Island Co, IL as John 49, Caroline 49 Alma 19 and Charles 13. Is there a cemetery in Centre Twp that Swedes used more than others? Thanks in advance for any ideas someone might have.
