Mr. Renzman had been ailing for the past seven years, but it had been his wish to live to celebrate his eightieth birthday anniversary, which he realized on November 24th last. John Carl Friederich Renzman was born on November 24, 1848, as the son of John Christian Renzman and his wife Marie, nee Schultz, in Murchin, Germany. He came to the United States in November 1884, and settled at once in the neighborhood of Hardin and Postville. On December 12, 1889,he was united in marriage with Wilhelmina Schultz, who had come from Germany the same year. The couple at once settled on a farm near Postville and a short time later moved onto the farm just south of town which they occupied until two years ago, when the retired to reside in Postville. Two children were born to them, one daughter, Ella, now Mrs. Frank Hangartner, living near Postville and one son, John, still at home. Besides the widow and children the deceased leaves one sister and several half-brothers in Germany, and many local friends. Amidst all his trials of the past seven years, he remained cheerful and content until his passing at 7:45 o’clock last Friday evening. The funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at one o’clock at the home in this city and at one-thirty o’clock at St. Paul’s Lutheran church of which he had been a member for forty-four years, Rev. E. T. Finck officiating. The large assemblage in attendance at the last rites attested to the high esteem and regard the deceased held in this community. W. G. Schultz of Pequot, Minn., John Schultz of Austin, Minn., and Fred Bauder of Des Moines, were among those out of town here in attendance at the funeral.
