The Rev. Julius L. Peterson officiated. Interment was in the Postville Cemetery. Dean August Henry Meyer, son of Alfred C. and Ella (Palas) Meyer was born June 19, 1924 at Postville. He passed away Oct. 5, at his home in Antioch, CA. He was baptized July 20, 1924 at St. Paul Lutheran Church by the Rev. E. Schmidt and confirmed Nov. 13, 1938 by the Rev. Frederich R. Ludwig. He graduated from Postville high school. During WW II he served in the U. S. Navy. Sept. 27, 1947 he was married to Eilene Marting at Monona. To this union two children were born. They lived in Cedar Rapids where he was a meat cutter and managed the first Sun Mart supermarket until 1959 when they moved near Cleveland, OH. In 1960 they moved to Alamo, CA where he was self-employed for 20 years. Dean retired in 1979. In 1980 they moved to Antioch, CA. He was a member of the Valley Christian Center in Dublin, CA., and had been a member of the Masonic Lodge in Cedar Rapids. He was preceeded in death by his father. Surviving are his wife, Eilene, a son Brad of Sunnyvale, CA., a daughter, Tracy (Mrs. Jerry Gutfeld) of Hayward, CA., his mother, Ella Meyer and a brother, Dale, both of Postville and a sister, Jane Ann (Mrs. Joseph Panoch) of Castalia, two nephews and a niece.
