Ole Hansen was born at Svebakken in Rengaboe, Norway, December 5, 1834 where he spent his boyhood, and was confirmed May 22, 1850. He sailed for America November 8, 1858, and six years later bought and settled on the old homestead in Paint Creek township. May 26, 1862, he was united in marriage with Ragneld Ellingsdatter Mehus or Sanderson. To this union were born ten children, the first three and the last having died in infancy. One daughter, Mrs. Adam Herman, died in 1913. His wife, preceded him in death April 25, 1911. Four sons, Hans and Peter still on the old home place, Ben and Otto of Waukon, and one daughter, Mrs. Andrew Nortome of Kalispell, Mont., live to survive the father. He was a hard worker and worked out his home from the timber with the other pioneers of Paint Creek township. He was a true citizen and a firm believer in the Christian religion. His ! health has been failing and the feebleness of old age gradually brought his life to a close and he entered his eternal home. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon from the Old West Paint Creek Church. Source: WAUKON REPUBLICAN, PAGE 1 COLUMN 3 JULY 10, 1918
