In 1866 my great-great grandparents, Timothy and Ellen Fitzgerald purchased land from a Thomas Scanlan and a Catherine Scanlan in Lafayette Township, Allamakee County, Iowa. (near Wexford, IA). William Scanlan is listed in one history of Lafayette township as one of its earliest settlers in the township. Several of the other family names you mentioned are among the near neighbors in Lafayette and Taylor townships. (Harper's Ferry is in Taylor township.)
