Ray Orr officiating. Burial was in Oakland cemetery. Mrs. Hager died in her sleep on May 1 at Ames where she had been for the past two years. During this time she had enjoyed the company of her daughter, Mrs. O. E. Tauber, and her two grandsons, Tommy and Jackie Tauber, Mrs. H. M. Gifft, Ithaca, New York, her other daughter, joined Mrs. Tauber here the first of the week for the last rites. Mrs. Gifft's two children are the other survivors: Mrs. Peter Jenkins and Thomas Gifft. Sarah Ellen Stevens, daughter of Peter and Julianna Shuff-Stevens, was born in Waukon September 23, 1869. She was married to Otto J. Hager September 20, 1899. He preceded her in death in 1949. Mrs. Hager is remembered by her friends for a wide variety of interests, including her special interest in birds and nature lore. She enjoyed the study of birds for many years and became an amateur authority, often consulted locally concerning Iowa birds as well as visiting migrants.
