The Rev. Alvin Wolcott officiated and burial was in Oakland cemetery. He died Tuesday, June 1, 1976, as the result of a tractor accident at his home. He was born Dec. 17, 1915 in Winneshiek county to LeRoy and Georgia (Cummings) Britain. He married Lorraine Sires in Waukon Nov. 17, 1936. She survives with a daughter, Mrs. Ray (Rebecca) Nuhring of Portland, OR; two sons, Daniel of Charles City and Norval of Spring Grove, MN; three brothers, Rodney of Clear Lake, WI; Lowell and Robert of Lincoln, NE; three sisters, Mrs. James (Eleanor) Sires of Marshalltown; Mrs. Robert (Carol) Renwick of California; and Mrs. Leonard (Shirley) Rogers of Lincoln, NE; and seven grandchildren. Three brothers, Earl, Keith and Kenneth, preceded him in death. He was educated in the local schools, was a farmer and an Allamakee County employee. He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist church. Pallbearers were Lee Rosendahl, Gary Rosendahl, Garon Blunt, Raymond Sires, Gordon Vongroven and Al Haugsted.
