Reply to the message or author by clicking on the link below. *************************************************************************** MESSAGE: (#146639) Angeline (Huxholt) Martin <http://iagenweb.org/boards/allamakee/obituaries/index.cgi?rev=146639> AUTHOR: Diana Henry Die DATE: 2/18/2007 at 10:11:10 Surnames: HUXHOLT,MARTIN,BISCHOFF,DICKMAN Pioneer Mother At Rest Mrs. August Martin, one of the pioneer mothers of Lansing and a resident of Allamakee county about fifty years, died last Friday, January 18th, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Bischoff, on the Park, after an extended illness. She had been a sufferer for years and a patient at the state hospital at Independence for eight or nine years before being brought home. Angeline Martin, nee Huxholt, was born April 6, 1843, at Hohenhort, Hessen Darmstadt, Germany, and died on Jan. 18th, being aged 73 years, 9 mos. And 12 days. She was united in marriage to August Martin in 1861. Five children were born to this union. The husband and three children, preceded her in death. Two daughters, Mrs. Charles Bischoff of this city, and Mrs. Marie Dickman of Zumbro Falls, Minnesota, survive to mourn the loss of a kind and loving mother. Deceased also leaves one brother, one sister, seven grandchildren and other relatives, besides a host of old time friends. Funeral services were conducted at the home Saturday afternoon by Rev. F. J. Lantow, pastor of the German Evangelical Association church, of which deceased had been a member for many years. The remains were laid to rest in the family lot in Oak Hill cemetery.
