Shafer) HELD 1895-1972 Esther C. Held Interred Sunday Services were conducted from the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, Postville, Sunday, July 9, at 2:00 p.m. for Esther C. Held who died July 7 at the Good Samaritan Center, Postville. The Rev. Keith Kensinger officiated. Esther C. Held, daughter of Ernest and Bertha Klocke Shafer, was born March 14, 1895, in Ludlow Township, Allamakee County, and was a lifetime resident of that area. On August 13, 1913, she was married to August Held. Mr. Held preceded her in death May 20, 1953. She is survived by a son Clifford, rural Waukon; two grandchildren, one great grandchild; a brother, Edward Shafer, rural Postville, and a sister Ruth, Mrs. Paul Fiet, rural Waukon. Interment was in the Bethlehem Cemetery. Postville Herald newspaper clipping,hand dated 1972,from my mother's obituary collection. Submitter has no further information.
