She was born January 12, 1928 in New Albin to Fred and Ethel Hope (Sadler) Weymiller. On August 5, 1947 she married George Smerud. She is survived by her hus­band; four sons, Ronald of Lans­ing; Gordon and Dean of New Albin, and David of Ft. Ord, CA; four daughters, Sheryl Snodgrass and Jan Brennan, both of Lansing, and Nancy and Carla Smerud, both of New Al­bin; 18 grandchildren; 4 great-­grandchildren; four brothers, Lee, Spring Grove, MN, Fred, Yuba City, CA, Donald, Lans­ing, and Ronald, New Albin; and six sisters, Evelyn Wild, Lansing, Helen Campbell and Lorna Vichlach, Waukon, Laura Griffin, Rochester, Shirley Bul­man, New Albin, and Nancy Collins, Milwaukee, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, and a great-grandchild. Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 21, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in New Albin with Fr. Henry Charipar officiat­ing. Burial was in the church ce­metery. Serving as pallbearers were Leo Whalen, Jerry Plagge, Jim Hammel, Randy Bolstad, John Keenan, and John Smerud.
