Richards, 91, of New Albin, died Friday, Au­gust 10, 1990, in Thornton Manor Care Center, Lansing. She was born December 25, 1898, in Crooked Creek Township to Fred and Mary (Lubbe) Roth. On May 2, 1917 she mar­ried Ernest Richards. He died March 18, 1984. Marie was a life-long resi­dent of the New Albin area. She attended rural school in Crooked Creek Township, and was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, New Albin, as well as the St. Peter's Women's Guild. She is survived by three sons, Robert of Brownsville, MN, Joseph of Sundance, WY, and James of New Albin; two daughters, Mrs. Eugene (Har­riet) Peske of Friday Harbor, WA, and Mrs. Gaylord (Ruby) Schoh of Waukon; a daughter­-in-law, Gladys Richards of New Albin; 19 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a sister, Milda Noel of Preston, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Burnet; and three grandchildren, Todd Schoh, and two in infancy. Funeral services were held Monday, August 13, in St. Pe­ter's United Church of Christ, New Albin, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Joan Fumetti officiated.
