She was born February 7, 1922, in New Albin Iowa to Cornelius and Mary May (Wall) Hammell. Agnes married Linus Murphy on Aug 24, 1943. Linus preceded Agnes in death on August 5, 1944. Agnes married Cyril Troendle on October 19, 1948. Cyril preceded her in death on October 19, 1990. The couple farmed in Allamakee County until moving to Wilmington Township in 1956. Agnes was active in the National Farmers Organization, Homemakers, 4-H and was an election judge for many years. Agnes was an active member of St. Marys Parish in Caledonia. Agnes is survived by her nine children, Rose (Steven) Sundem of Ramsey, MN; Phyllis Onstad of Altura, MN; Ronald (Monica) Troendle of Caledonia; Edward Troendle of Spring Grove; Mary (Dayne) Walker of Spring Grove; Steven (Cindy) Troendle of Moxie, WA; Fred (Sandra) Troendle of St. Charles; Alice Furey of Frazee, MN; and Patrick (Chris) Troendle of Lanesboro; 21 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Agnes is also survived by three siblings, Margaret Blake, Mary Blake and Walter (Betty) Hammell. Agnes is preceded in death by infant sons Donald and Lawrence, and brothers John Hammell and Ray Hammell. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 am, Friday, January 12, at St. Marys Catholic Church in Caledonia. Father Gregory Leif and Father Jerry Blake will officiate, and burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Caledonia. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 pm, Thursday, January 11, at Holy Family Hall, adjacent to St. Marys Catholic Church in Caledonia, where a prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m. Friends may also call one hour prior to funeral services at the church. Memorials may be made to Calvary Cemetery Perpetual Care. McCormick Funeral Home, Caledonia is assisting the family with arrangements. Caledonia Argus 8 Jan 2007
