Rober, 82, of rural Dorchester, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1987, in Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon. He was born Oct. 7, 1904, in Allamakee County, Iowa, to Henry H. and Caroline (Meiners) Rober. He married Lulu Fruechte on Sept. 4, 1930. Rober was a lifelong resident of the Eitzen-Dorchester area and graduated from Waukon High School and Waukon Junior College. He farmed in the Eitzen-Dorchester area and operated a machine shop in the 1960s. He was a member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ, Eitzen, where he had been the organist and Sunday school teacher. Survivors are his wife; two sons, Norlin of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Ronald of Dorchester; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a sister and his stepmother, Minnie (Meiners) Rober. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in St. Luke's United Church of Christ. The Rev. Lloyd Fried will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Haugen-Roble Funeral Home, Caledonia, Friday from 2 to 9 p.m. and at the church Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m. Source: Newspaper Clipping
