The Rev. Dan Jensen officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Friends called from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday in the New Albin Funeral Chapel and 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Protsman died Friday, July 22, 1988, in her home. She was born November 10, 1929, in Luana, Iowa to Austin and Helen (Huffman) Ames. On February 15, 1947, she married Norbert Protsman. She worked for the Lansing Company. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Norbert A. of Denver, CO, and Ron of Waterloo, IA; a daughter, Tamie Steele of Egan, MN; four grandchildren; three brothers, Curtis Ames, Evansdale, lA, Clayton and David Ames, Janesville, WI; and six sisters, Audrey Bennett, Hawkeye, IA, Darlene Moon, Monona, IA, Bonnie Hines and Diane Benhart, both of Oelwein, IA, Marilyn Havlik of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Meredith Gentes of Prairie du Chien, WI. Pallbearers were Jerry Plagge, Dave Steele, Neil Kiesau, Ethel Thomas, Carol Dougherty, and Donna Thimmesch. Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
