The rites were in charge of Rev. C. E. Witt, pastor of St. Paul's. Burial was in Postville Cemetery. Henry Althouse, Sr., son of Christian Althouse and his wife, Margaretha Steffens, was born August 15, 1873 in Winneshiek county, Iowa. He was baptized on September 14, 1873 and was confirmed in St. Paul's evangelical Lutheran Church of Postville on April 20, 1896. He was united in marriage on May 26, 1896 to Anna B. Linderbaum. To this union were born six children, Henry, Emma, Carl, William, Caroline and Ludwig. The earlier part of his life was spent farming in Winneshiek county. In 1915 the family moved to a farm east of Postville, where he lived the remainder of his life. He was preceded in death by two sons, William, and an infant son, Ludwig, one daughter, Caroline, and his parents and one sister. He is survived by his wife, two sons, Henry and Carl of Postville, one daughter, Mrs. Henry (Emma) Benjegerdes of Postville, seven grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. Postville Herald newspaper clipping, hand dated 1954, from my mother's obituary collection. Submitter has no further information.
