Welch Julia A. Welch, 77, of Waukon died Friday, Feb. 23, 2007 at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. As per her wishes, her body was cremated and a private memorial service will be held at a later date. Julia Ann Welch was born December 30, 1929 in Waukon, the daughter of Peter and Mary (Whalen) Welch. She graduated from St. Patrick's Catholic School in 1948. Julia spent much of her working career in Los Angeles, CA, working for Hughes Aircraft. Following her retirement in 1990 she moved back to Waukon, where she has lived ever since. Julia was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Waukon. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, spending time with her family and friends, and volunteering for a variety of community and church events. Survivors include a sister, Jeanne (Cletus) Rooney of Waukon; a brother, Donald Welch of Santa Monica, CA; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Kenneth "Bud", Norbert and Cletus Welch; and three sisters, Mary "Sis" Fink, Rita Dornan and Agnes Thorpe.
