She had been employed by Wilson and Co., from 1946 to 1966, retiring due to ill health in 1966. Surviving are her mother, Mrs. William Wiemerslage, West Branch; four sisters, Mrs. Carl Strub, Lansing, Mrs. Kenneth Oseth, Cedar Rapids, Esther Bolsinger, Marion, and Dorothy Wiemerslage, Grinnell, and a brother, Earl W. Wiemerslage, Council Bluffs. Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday in Chapel of Memories by the Rev. David F. Larson of St. Marks Lutheran church. Burial: Cedar Memorial. Werhan, daughter of Wm. and Henrietta Werhan was born in Hanover, Germany, in 1839, and died in Cresco, September 9, 1911. She came to America with her parents in 1849 and settled in Cook Co., Illinois, and resided there three years. Came from there to Iowa and settled at Forest Mills. In 1860 she was married to John Beucher and they resided near Waukon for several years. From there they moved to a farm near Cresco where they lived until the death of her husband three years ago. She leaves to mourn four daughters and two sons, Mrs. Hettie Loughrey, Mrs. Emma Kuntz, Mrs. Nettie Reinhart and John Beucher of Cresco and vicinity; Mrs. Mary Kuntz and Charles Beucher of Cavour, South Dakota; Julius of Culver, Kansas, and Theodore of Waukon, and 18 grandchilden. Werhan's Remains Brought here for Burial News was received on Thursday last of the death of Theodore J. Werhan, former Waukon resident, who passed away that day at Neepawa, Manitoba, Canada. His last illness extended over a period of six months from an incurable disease. Deceased was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Werhan and was born at Forest Mills, Franklin township, on March 7, 1861. This county was his home until 1924 when the family moved to Glencairn, Manitoba, Canada. For a number of years he farmed in Jefferson township as well as operated a threshing machine and saw mill. Later he came to Waukon and erected the Pioneer garage block on West Main street, now owned by O. J. Moe. On December 25, 1897, he was united in Marriage with Miss Sylvia Stall, of Forest Mills, and to this union was born seven children, Namely: Paul, Columbus, Ind.; Frank, Mrs. Faith Clements and Miss Mary Werhan, Minneapolis; William, McCreary, Manitova, Canada; Charles and Milton of Glencairn, Canada, who mourn the passing of both parents, Mrs. Werhan having died in 1929. There is also an only brother, W. J. Werhan of Bennington, Kansas, and eight grandchildren. The remains arrived here Monday and were taken to Martin Bros. chapel. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. Robert Davies. Burial was in the family lot in Evergreen cemetery in Jefferson township. The pallbearers were Paul, Frank and William Werhan, Fred Clements, Cecil Stahl and Kenneth Brooks. Relatives from a distance in attendance at the services were Paul Werhan and family, Columbus, Ind.; Frank Werhan and family and family, Fred Clements and family and Miss Mary Werhan, all of Minneapolis; Wm. Werhan, McCreary, Canada, and D. L. Werhan of Cresco.

On May 2, 1917 she married Ernest Richards. He died March 18, 1984. Marie was a life-long resident of the New Albin area. She attended rural school in Crooked Creek Township, and was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, New Albin, as well as the St. Peter's Women's Guild. She is survived by three sons, Robert of Brownsville, MN, Joseph of Sundance, WY, and James of New Albin; two daughters, Mrs. Eugene (Harriet) Peske of Friday Harbor, WA, and Mrs. Gaylord (Ruby) Schoh of Waukon; a daughter-in-law, Gladys Richards of New Albin; 19 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a sister, Milda Noel of Preston, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Burnet; and three grandchildren, Todd Schoh, and two in infancy. Funeral services were held Monday, August 13, in St. Peter's United Church of Christ, New Albin, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Joan Fumetti officiated. Gary Bailey, no permanent address given, was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 1 a.m., according to the Houston County Sheriff's Department. Bailey was riding in a 1976 pickup truck northbound on the highway when the vehicle ran off the road and rolled over several times, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. Another person in the car, Greg L. Engelhardt, 23, of Caledonia, was transported to Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse with multiple injuries. A Minnesota State Patrol release said it was not known who was driving the truck. The Allamakee County Sheriff Department and the New Albin Police Department also responded to the accident. He was born Sept. 18, 1952, in Caledonia, MN to Harry and Evelyne (Peterson) Meyer. He was a 1ifelong resident of the New Albin area and a 1970 graduate of Waukon High School. He also graduated from Lincoln Technical School, Des Moines. Meyer was a mechanic for Dee Implement and farmed in the Union City Township area. He was a member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ, Eitzen, MN, and a former council member of the church. Survivors are his parents of New Albin; and two sisters, Shirley Meyer of Dorchester and Carol Ashland of Minneapolis, MN. Services were held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in St. Luke's United Church of Christ, Eitzen. The Rev. Lane Zaffke officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. "Benny" Ernst, 82, of La Crosse, WI, died Saturday, Dec. 3, 1988 at his home. He was born August 1, 1906 to Eugene and Nancy (Holiday) Ernst in Wadena, IA. He married Laurene H. Maher on June 14, 1934 in Iowa City. Ernst graduated from the University of Iowa Medical School. He moved to La Crosse and served his internship at St. Francis Medical Center. He then moved to New Albin, having a general practice there for ten years, before returning to La Crosse in 1947. He served his residency in surgery in Iowa City, IA. He served as a general surgeon and family practioner as a staff member of St. Francis Medical Center and in 1979 he joined the Family Health Center as both teacher and physician. He had been a past president of the La Crosse County Medical Society. He was a member of the La Crosse Country Club, Elks Lodge #300, and a Founding member of the La Crosse Boys Club. He also sponsored promising nursing and medical students at Marquette University. In 1984, he was inducted in the 50 Year Club of the State Society of Wisconsin. He is survived by his wife, Laurene; four daughters, Joyce Puk of Cedar Rapids, IA, Shirley Pickel of Palos Verdes, CA, Colleen Gardner of Palm Beach, CA, and Debbie Rankin of Arvada, CO; fourteen grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by a brother and sister. Funeral prayer serices were held Wednesday, December 7, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's, the Workman Cathedral, La Crosse, WI. The Rev. J. He was also a bus driver for Eastern Allamakee Community Schools for many years. He is survived by his wife; two stepsons, William Munchoff of Hudson and David Munchoff of Kenosha, Wis.; five grandchildren; a brother, John Munz, of Lansing; and two sisters, Mrs. Urban (Dorothy) Strub and Anna Peterson, both of Lansing. He was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother. Funeral services were held on Sunday, September 27 at 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church. Rev. He married Cleo Donovan and she preceded him in death in October of 1967. He was a farmer and also owned a furniture and appliance store in New Albin. He also sold insurance and seed corn for several years. He was assessor for Union City and Iowa township. He is survived by a son, Melvin Meyer, of La Crescent, Minn.; four grandchildren; and a brother, Irvin, of New Albin. Besides his wife, he was preceded by three sisters; Martha Meyer, Alvina Boltz and Lydia Fink, and five brothers; Carl, Adolph, Art, Albert and August. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 4 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Fr. Henry Charipar officiated and burial was in the church cemetery. Lenz, 93, passed away July 29, 1987 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. He suffered a stroke two weeks before at his home in New Albin. He was born January 15, 1894 to Henry and Mary (Gramlich) Lenz on the Lenz homestead near Churchtown, one of eight children. He married Anna Batteen in 1917. She died in August of 1929. To this union were born two children, Charlene and John. He then married Pearl Pohlman in 1930. She died in 1977. He farmed in the Lansing and Mabel, Minn. areas before moving to New Albin. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Earl (Charlene) Garrett, of Lansing; a son, John, of Scottsdale, Arizona; seven grandchildren; ten greatgrandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Edna Paptistella, of Hinsdale, Illinois. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, William, Theodore and Edward, and three sisters, Emma Parks, Nettie Yahnke and Clara Bauman. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, at the Grace Methodist Church in New Albin. Rev. Thomas Mattson officiated and burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Lansing. Honorary pallbearers were great-grandchildren Kevin McCauley, Steven McCauley, Michelle McCauley, Jon Garrett, Jill Garrett, Renee Lysne, Gregory Lysne, Gary Lenz Jr., Stacy Lenz and Brian Anderson. Smith, 75, of Caledonia, Minn. and formerly of La Crosse, Wis., died Friday, April 14, 1989, in Tweeten-Lutheran Hospital, Spring Grove, Minn. He was born Feb. 14, 1914, in New Albin, Ia., to Fred and Elizabeth (Hahn) Smith. He graduated from a rural school in Allamakee County, Ia., and was a veteran of World War II. He worked in the La Crosse Rubber Mills for 33 years until his retirement on Feb. 28, 1979. He was a member of Mount Hope Presbyterian Church, Dorchester, Ia., and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans. Survivors include a sister, Mae Haugstad of Caledonia. He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in the Mount Hope Presbyterian Church. The Revs. Louise and Douglas Gordon-Denniston will officiate. Pixler <http://iagenweb.org/boards/allamakee/queries/index.cgi?rev=140454> AUTHOR: Sandy McClay DATE: 1/9/2007 at 23:15:58 Surnames: PIXLER,ROBEY I am looking for further information on a Myrtle (middle name Elmira or Almiera) Pixler, believed to be the daughter of John Pixler and (Chloe) Joanna Stull, Joanna died in 1877 and Myrtle then show up in the Caroline Robey house hold in the 1880 Census as "adopted". She is still there in the 1900 Census and is 25. I have been told that in Caroline Robey's will she is addressed as "cousin Myrtle"...I cannot find her past this 1900 Census...any help would be greatly appreciated!!!! Thank you! My great great grandmother was also there in 1880 Catharine Burgess....with the Robey's. Myrtle and Catherine seem to be dead ends so to speak. In 1880 Catherine was 89 years old.

Stahl, son of George W. and Amy (Brooks) Stahl was born on April 2, 1899 in rural Allamakee County at Dark Hollow near Forest Mills, Iowa. He died on September 3, 1994 at Good Samaritan Center, Waukon, Iowa. He was 95 years old. Cecil attended rural Forest Mills school. He was a lifetime resident of the Rossville, Forest Mills area. On February 7, 1923, he was married to Pearl N. Kuehne in Waukon. >From 1926 until the early 1950's, he ran a grocery and general merchandise store in Rossville. He worked for a time with Waukon Equity as a meat cutter and grocer and later as a self-employed carpenter. He was a former member of the Rossville chapter of I. O. O. F. He enjoyed woodworking, carpentry, hunting and fishing. Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Pearl, who died in 1981, brothers Asa, Donald, Sidney, Richard, and Owna Stahl and sister, Mary Hagensick. He is survived by a sister, Elizabeth Thayer of Decorah, and many nieces and nephews. Services were held Tuesday, September 6, 1994 at Martin Funeral Chapel with the Rev. James Walker officiating. Casket bearers were Everett, Lester and Allen Shahl, William Thayer, George and Elton Thornton. Arrangements were made by the Martin Funeral Home of Waukon. Burial was in the Rossville Cemetery. Stahl at the Veterans hospital at Des Moines, where he had received care for stomach trouble the past several weeks. A son of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. W. Stahl he was born in Franklin township, April 27, 1897, where he grew to manhood. On August 11, 1916, he enlisted in the U. S. Marine corps at La Crosse for four years, but was discharged on May 14, 1917, at Portsmouth, N.H., on account of physical disability. On October 3, 1917, he joined the American forces by enlisting here at Waukon in the private medical corps and was sent to Camp Dodge, Des Moines. Later he was transferred to Camp Bowie, Texas, where he received his discharge on December 20, 1918. Besides his parents of near Rossville he is survived by two children, Kenneth and Bessie who have been reared since the death of their mother several years ago, by their grandmother, Mrs. A. A. Farnham of Waukon. Also four brothers and two sisters, Richard, Cecil, Donald and Owna, all of this vicinity, Mary and Elizabeth who are married and reside at McGregor and Decorah respectively. The remains arrived here Wednesday and were taken to the Pluemer & Bakke chapel. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. Robert Davies, followed by burial with Military honors in Evergreen cemetery, Jefferson Township.

In the fall of 1912 the family came to Waukon. Here she received her education, graduating with the class of 1923. From then until her marriage to Sidney K Stahl on October 22, 1921, she followed the teaching profession. To this union were born two children Kenneth, six, and Helen Bessie, four. After three months of serious illness she passed peacefully away at the home of her parents on the evening of June 13. The funeral was held Monday afternoon from the Farnham home, conducted by Rev. Bond. Burial was in Oakland cemetery. Those from a distance who attended the services were: Milton R Farnham, Davenport; Mrs. Alice Crawford and Mrs. Elgia Woolridge, Fayette; Mrs. Edna Perry, Maynard; Mrs. Louise Goldsberry, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Goldsberry, Fairbanks; Mr. and Mrs. Bert Sample, Mr. and Mrs. Witt, Harmony, Minn.; Clayton Babcock, Henry Knudson, Canton, Minn;.
