She was born March 12, 1898, to Fredrick and Sophia (Madelmann) Pohlman. She married August Krzebietke on April 10, 1937. He died in January 1972. The couple farmed in the New Albin area until 1949, when they retired. Survivors are nieces and nephews. Services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. in St. Peter's United Church of Christ, New Albin. The Rev. Lloyd Fried will officiate. Burial will be in New Albin City Cemetery. He was born June 22, 1902, in rural New Albin to John H. and Minnie (Teske) Reiser. He married Alice Child in 1926 in Nashua, Iowa, and had five children. He married Emma (Weymiller) Blomquist on April 28, 1951. She died March 11, 1978. He farmed all his life and retired and moved into New Albin in 1968. Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Weymiller of New Albin, and Vivian Hammer of Waukon; two sons, Dale Reiser of Dorchester, and Cleon Reiser of TN; 13 grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a step-great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, two brothers, a sister, a grandson, and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 30, at Grace United Methodist Church, New Albin, with Pastor Tom Mattson officiating. Burial was in New Albin Cemetery. Pallbearers were Kenneth Reiser, Mark Reiser, Curtis Reiser, Dean Reiser, Richard Reiser, Roger Weymiller, Ronald Hammer, and David Hammer. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years after which he worked as an operator for the Soo Line Railroad. She attended the New Albin Public School, was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, an honorary member of Grace United Methodist Women's Society and Royal Neighbors of America. For sixteen year, she was the New Albin correspondent for the Allamakee Journal. Surviving her are one daughter, Faye Wenzel, of Chicago, IL; one nephew, Charles Irons of Charles City, Iowa; two great nieces, Michelle Irons of Charles City, IA and Mrs. Dale Moe of Northwood, IA; and one great-great-nephew, Christopher Dale Moe of Northwood, IA. Jeff, along with his brother, Scott, 22, and parents, Gary and Marlene Houg, were boating in the Little Swift Slough near Harpers Ferry when they were forced ashore due to heavy rain about 3:15 p.m., according to a report released by the Allamakee County Sheriff's Department. After going ashore all four were struck by lightning, according to the report, with the father then bringing them to the state boat landing at Harpers Ferry. The Allamakee County Sheriffs Department, Harpers Ferry and Waterville Rescue Squads and officers from the DNR were sent to the location. The family was then transported by ambulance to Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital. Jeffrey Houg was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. Gary and Scott Houg were both admitted, while Marlene Houg was treated and released. Officials at the hospital indicated that both Gary and Scott would be released Monday morning. According to a report from the Allamakee County Sheriff's Department, Stahl was hunting with two friends just north of Lansing on a bluff overlooking the Mississippi River about 6:30 p.m. The three were on a ridge overlooking the river when the friends heard a shot and observed the victim lying on the ground with a single gunshot wound. Ricky was pronouned dead near the scene by county medical examiner Dr. Dale Wicklund. The incident is considered to be a self-inflicted accidental wound, Sheriff's Department personnel said. Tragically the .22-caliber Magnum rifle that Ricky was using was the same weapon that killed his parents, Rick and Jayne Stahl three years ago. The Allamakee County Sheriff's Department and the Iowa DNR responded to the call, assisted by Lansing Police and Fire Departments and the Lansing ambulance. He was born November 22, 1895 in New Albin to Frank A. and Caroline (Wild) Weymiller. He attended New Albin schools. He married Mariam Tabatt in 1931. She died February 7, 1987. He was a retired farmer and also worked as a livestock buyer and a fireman for the Milwaukee Road railroad for two years. He served on the New Albin city council, school board, and was a church board member of the United Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons, Louis of New Albin and Franklin "Doc" of Harpers Ferry; two daughters, Mrs. LaVerne (Mary Lou) Welper of New Albin, and Mrs. Leon (Ruth Ann) Myhre of Caledonia. Minn.; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother Walter and a sister Amanda, in infancy. Rev. Tom Mattson officiated at the funeral services held on Friday, February 26 at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in New Albin. Burial was in the New Albin city cemetery. She was born December 23, 1890 in rural Lansing to William and Nancy (Mink) Young. She was a graduate of Lansing Public High School. On April 6, 1910 she married Charles A. Greiser in Waukon with Rev. VanNice officiating. The Greisers lived on a farm near Churchtown after their marriage. Emma worked as a school teacher in country schools in the Churchtown area. Emma was loved by many who came to the farm to hunt squirrels and pick hickory nuts. In 1945 they sold the farm to Cory Moore and moved to New Albin where Emma was a babysitter. She was also an active fundraiser for the March of Dimes. Her husband was killed by lightning April 24, 1954. In 1979 Emma entered the Ackley Presbyterian Manor, Ackley, lA, and was transferred to Thornton Manor in 1985. Survivors include a daughter, Lucille Kolsrud Reese, Waukon; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a niece, Geraldine (Purrington) VanPelt, Eureka, CA. Besides her husband, Emma was preceded in death by a son, Vernon Charles Greiser; a sister, Florence Purrington; a brother, Richard Young; and two half-brothers, Warren and Walter Young. Funeral services were held Friday, March 23, at Zion United Church of Christ, Waukon, Rev. Henry Heinbuch officiating. Burial was in Lansing Ridge Cemetery. She was born in Houston County, Minnesota on October 9, 1904, to Henry and Pauline (Libbie) Wuennecke. The family moved to New Albin where she attended school and graduated from New Albin High. Schoo1. Her father owned and operated a general store and she worked there for many years. Her father died in 1935 and she continued in the store until selling it in 1944. Her mother died in 1957. On May 31, 1945, she married Alfred Tabatt at Waukon and they continued to make their horne in New Albin where he owned and operated the Tabatt Garage and Repair Shop. He passed away on February 24, 1985. Edna was a life-long member of St. Peter's U.C.C. Church and was on the New Albin library board from 1951-1989; a director of the New Albin Savings Bank from 1935 until her death; and a volunteer worker at the County Care Facility of Allamakee County for over 18 years. Survivors include a sister-in-law, Esther Tabatt of St. Louis, MO, nieces, nephews. and cousins. Funeral services were held on Thursday, November 8, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter's U.C.C. in New Albin. Pastor Nancy Anderson officiated and burial was in the New Albin City Cemetery. He was united in marriage to Amanda Teufert on February 3, 1921. On May 4, 1951, he was united in marriage to Gladys Tippery. Herman farmed in Clayton County. He also worked for Kerndt Brothers Elevator, Lansing, and Mauss Produce in New Albin. Survivors include a daughter, Irene Adney of Eureka Springs, AR, a step-daughter, Virginia Tippery of Lansing, a granddaughter, Charlene Kappelmann of Springfield, MO, and a host of other relatives and friends. Death was due to a heart attack. Mr. Zarwell, son of the late Frederick and Catherine Zarwell, was born in Crooked Creek Township, Houston County, Minnesota, February 5, 1887. There he was educated and grew to manhood. On November 2, 1909, he was united in marriage to Ella Meyers at Grace Methodist Church, New Albin, making their home in Jefferson Township, Houston County, Minnesota until the fall of 1925 when they moved to New Albin, since his home. Deceased was employed as a section worker for the Milwaukee Railroad here until the time of his retirement as of November 1951. "Hank", as he was popularly called, was a kind and devoted husband and father, industrious from his youth and a fine neighbor and friend. He had been ailing with a heart condition for some time, suffering his third heart attack on Monday morning and was immediately taken to Lutheran hospital, La Crosse, where he passed away Thursday evening. He is survived by his wife; two sons and one daughter, Floyd of Eitzen, Minn.; Herbert and Mrs. Raymond Sires of New Albin; two brothers and two sisters, Fred and Susie of New Albin, Bill of St. Paul, Minn. and Mrs. Lavern Helstrom of Minneapolis, Minn. He is also survived by eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters. Funeral services were held at St. Peter's Church of Christ, New Albin, Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Emil Burrichter, pastor of the church and Rev. Edmund DeBurh, pastor of St. John's United Church of Christ, Wheatland, officiating. Burial was in the New Albin Cemetery. Casket bearers were Earl Wohlers, Henry Thimmesch, Carl Vonderohe, August Reinke, Armin Luttchens and Herman Schuldt. Fink 1915 - 1961 <http://iagenweb.org/boards/allamakee/obituaries/index.cgi?rev=142400> AUTHOR: Errin Wilker DATE: 1/23/2007 at 19:26:21 Surnames: FINK Freeman Fink, 46, New Albin, was killed instantly Saturday when he was struck by a tree he was felling during clearing operations on the Harold Riehm farm. Dr. Alden F. Wiley, Allamakee county medical examiner, said Fink must have died instantly of head injuries when struck by the tree's branches. Fink was operating a bulldozer at the time. When the dozer stalled, its treads churning, Riehm went to investigate the noise, and found Fink's body on the machine, which had continued to run. Dr. Wiley said death must have occurred about two hours before Riehm found the body at around 5 p.m. Saturday. Fink leaves his wife; nine children; his father; and two brothers. Funeral Home with interment at the English Bench cemetery. Mr. Hahn died on May 28, 1965 at New Albin, having been in ill health for the past couple of years. George Earl Hahn was born on December 10, 1897 at Brookings, S.D., a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Hahn. The family came to Allamakee county when he was a small child and he has lived here all of the time since. He never married and was employed as a farm laborer. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Russell Lane of Waukon and Mrs. Roy Sires of Hawkeye. He was preceded in death by five sisters, Mrs. Fred (Elizabeth) Smith, Mrs. James (Sarah) Sires, Mrs. Ray (Cora) Bulman, Mrs. Dan (Anna) Sires, and Miss Lillie Hahn; and one brother, Clyde Hahn. The services were conducted by the Rev. Richard L. Beerbower. Pallbearer were Calvin, Robert, Alvin and Ray Sires, and Merle and John Smith. Source: Allamakee Journal ~ 2 June 1965

A. Moore, the former Marguerite LaTronche, 85, who died in a Des Moines nursing home, were held Thutsday afternoon at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery. The Rev. Linus Rasing officiated. She was originally from the Cedar Rapids area. The funeral mass was held there at I.C. church. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John LaTronche, former New Albin residents.
