R.F. JORDAN Mrs. Reinhardt Jordan, whose maiden name was Selma Welper, and whose mortal body was taken to her last resting place Monday afternoon, April 23rd, was born Feb. 10, 1892, on Lansing Ridge, Allamakee county. Dec. 15, 1909, at New Albin, she was married to Mr. Reinhardt Jordan, the bereaved husband. Their married life was spent at New Albin, and was one of joy and happiness. Her untimely and unexpected death, coming as it did last Friday (20 Apr 1923), after a few days illness, was a blow to all. At the age of 31 years, 2 months and 10 days, the cold hand of death took her, as beloved wife and devoted mother, from her family circle where she was needed so badly. But our heavenly father knoweth best. His will be done. She was an active member of the Ladies Aid and the Evangelical League of St. Peter's church. Deceased was also a member of the Royal Neighbor Lodge, and as such, she was active in the Mount Oneota Camp of New Albin. She leaves to mourn her untimely parting her husband and four children, three sons and two daughters, Harold, 12 years, Helen, 10, Clarence, 8, Lorena, 5 and Irvin, 2. She is also mourned by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Welper; four sisters, Mrs. G.H. Welper, Mrs. Don Easton, Mrs. George Fink, and Mrs. Leroy Wiebke; and three brothers, Martin, Harry and Herbert Welper; and many other relatives and friends. Her absence from home and community will be felt not only by husband, children, parents, brothers and sisters, but all who knew her will keenly feel her departure. As a parting farewell, these words were spoken: A precious one from us has gone, A voice we loved is stilled; A place is vacant in our home, Which never can be filled. God in His wisdom has recalled, The boon his love had given; And though the body slumbers here, The soul is safe in Heaven. The funeral was conducted by Rev. W.W. Bunge of Rochester, Minn., at St. Peter's church and was one of the largest ever seen here. The Royal Neighbors attended in a body and eight girls marched alongside the hearse, carrying floral offerings, which were many and beautiful. The following out-of-town relatives attended the funeral: Prof. Erich Jordan of Norwalk, Ia.; Alvin Jordan of Indianola, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Wiebke, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Welper, and Mrs. Don Easton of Mabel, Minn.; and Mrs. John Welper of La Crosse, Wisc. CARD OF THANKS We wish to express our most sincere and heartfelt thanks to all our relatives, friends and neighbors who so kindly assisted us in the illness and death of our beloved wife and mother. We especially wish to thank Rev. W.W. Bunge, the choir and the Royal Neighbors for their service, and all who sent the beautiful floral offerings. R.F. Jordan and Family

Bellows (b. 1830, d. 29 Sep 1911) and Polly S. Joy (b. 1831 d. 1904). Can anyone confirm that Pollys maiden name was Joy and that she was born in Chatauqua, NY? Based on census records, I suspect that this family lived in Elkhart County, Indiana before moving to Allamakee County. I have found that Pollys second marriage was to an Asael EATON on 16 Oct 1887 in Hardin, Allamakee, IA. This is before the death date recorded for William J. Bellows. I could not find William J. Bellows in the 1900 or 1910 census. Is it possible that this death date is incorrect, and William died before Pollys second marriage?
