She was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Postville, where she was a lifetime member. She was united in marriage to William Brockmeyer of Postville November 28, 1905. To this union one son, Elmer, was born. After their marriage they moved to a farm northwest of Postville where they lived for 36 years, moving back to the home in Postville where she was born, in September 1942. She was preceeded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother George and a sister Christine. She is survived by her son Elmer and her daughter-in-law Adelia, several nieces and nephews. He was baptized November 6, 1966 and confirmed May 2, 1982, both at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. Michael was a sophomore at Postville Community Schools. He participated in football and was a member of FFA, Mixed Chorus, Boys Glee and the 4-H Club, Clermont Comets. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Irving Deering. Surviving besides his parents are two brothers, Charles F. and Craig E., both of rural Postville, three sisters, Mrs. Jay (Lori) Podzimek of Spokane, WA, Stacy L., a student at Wartburg College, Waverly, IA, and Lisa J. at home, his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Leeone Deering, maternal grandfather, Milo Meyer, maternal grandmother, Mrs. Charles (Bernice) Thomas, all of Postville, and maternal great grandfather, Gilbert Hanson of Waukon, IA. Mr. Sebastian was born July 18, 1886, on the same farm where he passed away, and which was his home for 58 years. He was the son of Frank and Maggie Meyer Sebastian. He was baptized in infancy and confirmed in St. Paul's church in 1901. On January 26, 1910, he was married to Amanda Gerieke of Post township and to this union three children were born, Harold of Postville, Palma, Mrs. Starr Baade, of Monona, and Lyle living on the home place, who with the widow survive. Also surviving are three grandchildren, four brothers, John, Frank, and George Sebastian of Postville, and Henry Sebastian of Nevis, Minn., also two sisters, Mathilda, Mrs. W. L. Meyer, of Postville, and Caroline, Mrs. Carl Letchford, of Frankville. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Christian, and one grandchild. He was united in marriage to Anna Meyer on November 28, 1905. To this union was born one son. He was a member of the Valley Christian Center in Dublin, CA., and had been a member of the Masonic Lodge in Cedar Rapids. He was preceeded in death by his father. Surviving are his wife, Eilene, a son Brad of Sunnyvale, CA., a daughter, Tracy (Mrs. Jerry Gutfeld) of Hayward, CA., his mother, Ella Meyer and a brother, Dale, both of Postville and a sister, Jane Ann (Mrs. Joseph Panoch) of Castalia, two nephews and a niece. On February 6, 1907 John Sebastian was married to Lena Harnack at Postville. The couple lived on a farm in Winneshiek county until 1919 when they moved to Allamakee county. Mr. Sebastian discontinued farming in 1937 when the family moved to Postville where Mr. Sebastian became engaged in various occupations. John Sebastian is survived by his wife; one son Victor of Postville; one daughter Mrs. Alvin (Shirley) Monroe of Postville and five grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Henry Sebastian of Park Rapids, Minnesota, George Sebastian of Postville; two sisters, Mrs. Tillie Meyer of Postville and Mrs. Carl Letchford of Frankville. A son Herman died in infancy. John Sebastian was confirmed on April 7, 1895 at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Postville. He transferred his membership to the Community Presbyterian Church of Postville on December 24, 1939. Funeral services were held at the Community Presbyterian Church, Monday, December 8, at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Walter T. Martin in charge of the rites. Burial was in the Postville cemetery.
