I've "rescued" two old photographs belonging to the APPLETON Family. The first is one of Frank APPLETON which was taken at the Gamer Studio in Omaha, NE. The photograph is dated 31 May 1899 and indicates that Frank is 9 years old at the time, listing his birthday as the 2nd of March. The second photograph is one of Saville APPLETON which was taken at the Hannah & Eliason Studio in Salem, SD. A note on the back indicates that it was given to Sadie on 12 Mar 1901 and that Saville is "Alf's Cousin". Someone has also added that Saville died 8 May 1914 at the age of 48 years. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding these APPLETON Family members: Frank S. APPLETON was born 2 Mar 1890 in Sioux City, IA to parents Oliver B. APPLETON (1852-1903) and Elizabeth "Lizzie" FANNING (1859-1919). Frank had one sibling, a sister Hannah Isabel APPLETON (1888-1963). Frank married Emma APPLETON (b. 1869) and he died at the age of 26 on 29 Nov 1917 in Omaha, NE and is buried in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Omaha, NE. Saville W. APPLETON was born Jan 1867 in Sioux City, IA to parents Amos R. APPLETON (b. 1819 or 1822 in New Jersey-d. 1878) and Hannah Ann SAVILLE SAVITTS (b. 1824 or 1827 in Wayne Co. IN-d. 1909). Saville was one of 5 children born to this couple including, Margaret; Frank T.; Oliver B.; and Saville W. APPLETON all born between 1848 and 1867. Saville died 7 May 1914 in Sioux City, IA and is buried in the Floyd Cemetery in Sioux City, IA. Census records provide the following details: 1870 census of Sioux City, IA: A. R. I am looking for vintage photes of Bray, Eccleston and Heathershaw families. They all lived in the Waterloo area at one time. I have some photos of these families I am willing to share. I also have photos of unidentified people in Iowa. Any photos of the homestead, families or anything related to these familes would be appreciated. Thank You Amber Heath
Thanks so much. I have put out email to see if I can find anything more. If you have other suggestions, I appreciate any help. Smallest child on Mothers lap might be a boy but has a dress on. the other photos are: two pictues of one girl and it says Mary Soukup and the last one says Annie Soukup. I would like to find out when Theo F. ELLIS, photographer, was in business in New Sharon, Mahaska County, Iowa. I have a picture that I am trying to date in order to find out who the people in the picture are. His name is on the front of the picture along with the name of the town. I am thinking it would be late 1800's or 1900. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Cindy
