Hi Lori, I did some research on your HAACK query. I likely didn't find anything new. I searched newspapers.com for an obit. I found all kinds of articles on a Mrs. Herman Haack, during 1959. There was nothing for the month of October that year. I also checked WPA: http://iowawpagraves.org/index.php, the Iowa Gravestone Project: http://iowagravestones.org/, Find A Grave: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi. You could try posting a query in the IAGenWeb "Unknown Iowa County" query board located here: http://iagenweb.org/boards/unknown/queries/, as well as the query board for Clarke county: http://iagenweb.org/boards/clarke/queries/. Here is the link to the Clarke County Cemetery page on IAGenWeb: http://iagenweb.org/clarke/cem2.html I did check the state archive pdf, just to see if there were any HAACK's on that list for Clarke county, as often families are buried together. That list came up short: http://www.iowahistory.org/archives/holdings/state-archives/death-certificat es/assets/clarke-county.pdf. Then, I realized you could mean Osceola county, and not Osceola in Clarke County. Osceola County Cemeteries can be found here: http://iagenweb.org/osceola/cem/index.htm There is a Herman Haack in the Wilson cemetery. His vitals do not appear to align with your Herman. See: http://iagenweb.org/osceola/cem/wilson.htm. There were no HAACK obits here: http://iagenweb.org/boards/osceola/obituaries/index.cgi. You could post a query in that county here: http://iagenweb.org/boards/osceola/queries/index.cgi. I found one of your previous queries here: http://genforum.genealogy.com/cgi-bin/print.cgi?haack::120.html. There is a Herman Haack with a wife named Anna, who may be your Herman here: https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:KMBQ-3LD and https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XMV9-CRV. There is a rsmith48421 (http://connect.ancestry.com/Profile/017f919c-0002-0000-0000-000000000000) on ancestry.com who has private photos, described as follows: PHOTO: img942 - Copy CATEGORY: Other TAKEN: 8 Jun 2013 ATTACHED TO: Herman Carsten Haack (born 1891) There is a Herman Haack reference found here: http://interactive.ancestry.com/23808/dvm_LocHist009018-00285-1/549?backurl= http%3a%2f%2fsearch.ancestry.com%2fcgi-bin%2fsse.dll%3fgst%3d-6&ssrc=&backla bel=ReturnSearchResults&rc=1130,1490,1390,1560;1418,1491,1614,1564 Real Estate Records: Herman Haack in the U.S., Indexed County Land Ownership Maps, 1860-1918 Owner's Name: Herman Haack State: Iowa County: Osceola Town: Wilson Year: 1911 Source Citation Collection Number: G&M_84; Roll Number: 84 Source Information Ancestry.com. If there was an obit, maybe the Osceola Sentinel-Tribune will have a copy? http://www.osceolaiowa.com/ One key note, is that death records in Iowa that are not more than 75 years old, are not public record. Therefore, you probably won't find too much online, unless a family member or individual with interest shares that information. You'd also have to have a connection to the family, of which I assume that you do, to get any information from any county or state source. I didn't do any specific searches for Ettje "Anna" Peters KRUGER. I've run out of time. Good luck on your search. I found the information that you are looking for. On Ancestry.com, go to the site for the Lake Park newspaper, 22 October 1959, page 1. Herman C. Haack died Sunday Oct 11 at the age of 68 years. Funeral services were held last Wednesday, Oct 14 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, with interment in the Ocheyedan cemetery. Good luck with your research. You might try the GenWeb coordinator for Osceola County: http://iagenweb.org/osceola/ That person would probably be able to answer questions about burials in Osceola County. The Iowa Genealogical Society might also help. They could direct you to the representative for that area (Area 13) who could provide information about the records at the Osceola County Genealogical Library. http://iowagenealogy.org/ Good luck in your search! Let me know if I can help further. I am looking for information/burial place for: James Bernard Durnin who I believed died on Nov. 14, 1970 (born March 15, 1925) He may be buried in the Davenport area, possibly a Catholic Cemetery James Garfield Durnin born appox. 1883 and died Feb. 1, 1980. He lived most of his life in Davenport - His mother Ellen Rickert lived in Davenport according to the 1932 Davenport Directory, but I cannot find her after that, so it is possible she died in Daveport. Ellen is my great grandmother's sister and I am trying to piece their family together. Thanks Betty Manning Drumheller, Alberta Canada teach64@shaw.ca

Like any user-supplied data base, it's as reliable as the quality of the data given -- which as Kevin notes is uneven. Use it for what it's worth, and caveat emptor. It's something you volunteer for and do on a regular basis or as a person who will look it up for you second - George Taylor's stone IS in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery as listed on the WPA list and as in the Story Co.IA genweb page. I will check see if there is any group in charge of the cemetery, and see who has the records. Perhaps then, I can find someone to get a pic for me, for my genealogy. Judy - You did a good thing - don't be sorry that you started this discussion. Most of us have to learn by asking what seem to be dumb questions, only to find out that they weren't so dumb after all, and we all come away a little better off.. If I lived closer, I would go to Nevada City Hall, find out who has the burial records, get the location and the picture for you. Jeffery is correct and I have found Find A Grave very inaccurate. Linage and names listed wrong as well as photos of markers in the wrong cemetery. Even the name of the cemetery can be incorrect. If you do not see the stone in person don't believe what is said about it. There are many that have posted with accuracy also and with a good heart. First findagrave - all the gravestones and info are put on by someone who has adopted that cemetery, and puts the info on - you cannot change or do anything to it unless you are the one who has put the info on. I really didn't mean to cause such a ruckus as I see in this e-mail. Just for the record, what you have written about Find A Grave is incorrect. Normally, photos can be posted to an existing memorial by anyone. Memorials can be created by anyone, if one does not already exist for a particular person. And, if a memorial already exists, one is always free to contact that memorial's creator (by using the "EDIT" tab) to request that info be added to that memorial.
