    3. I have a copy of a very small book called "A Partial Record Of One Branch of THE HYDE FAMILY." Descendants of Samuel, who came from London to Boston in 1639 and Jonathan, who came to America in 1647. Published in 1931 by the Tuttle Company in Rutland, Vermont by Charles E. Tuttle. If someone would like information from it I would be happy to oblige. It follows nine generations. Samuel was born in England in 1610. His wife was Temperance. Jonathan, his brother, was born in England in 1626, married Mary French of Billerica and lived in Newton MA, then included in Cambridge. Many generations only have names and dates, nothing more. By the sixth or seventh generations there is a little more information. The families start out in MA, some moved to CT and by the later generations are all over the U.S. None of these Hydes are mine, so if it isn't in the book, I can't help you as none of mine are in New England. 3. I also have a copy of this, which lists my maternal grandmother. It can be VERY helpful in breaking through stone walls from around 1770 to 1885 for relatives in Vermont, New York and Connecticut, when records are scarce. The publisher's note explains that the 1931 edition was reprinted "from one privately printed by Rufus S. Warner, Ludlow, Vermont, about July 1878. Mr. Warner may or may not have been the author." "The lines represented are largely the Vermont Branch of the Hyde Family, giving the descendants to the eighth generation. The edition was of about 25 copies -- 20 pages text and the other pages were added and tipped in as the author obtained additional information -- up to the year 1885." This is not quite true. My grandmother, born in 1879, was in the 10th generation from Jonathan Hyde. It includes births into the early 1880s. The greatest value I found was in tracing my HYDE family back from New York into Vermont and Connecticut. The author evidently was able to contact some older members of this HYDE line who remembered their grandparents or great grandparents, and could bridge the gap where records are very scarce and LDS files are incomplete or incorrect. There's only 27 pages altogether, and some details are sketchy. 3. Hello Lynn, 4 Oct 04 It's generous of you to offer to help. My ancestor of interest is Ira Fassett HYDE who was born around 1800 and probably dead by 1857. Calvin Clarke Hyde, my great-grandfather is said to be his son. My source for this is Helen Brink's 1992 book, "Descendants of Asa PHILLIPS ... " but she doesn't cite specific sources for some of these conclusions. However, her work does provide some wonderful insight and background on the Phillips descendants. Marsha Fox Meyer reported on Rootsweb that that Ira's father was a William Hyde and his mother was Lydia HURLBUT. Brink also reported that Ira married Sarah/Sally CLEVELAND/CLEAVELAND and lived most, if not all of his life in Steuben County, New York. There could be two men by that name at that time in that place as an Ira Hyde is mentioned as an early settler (1810) of Pennsylvania Hill, Arkport, Steuben County.
