It is possible that birth, family, and death records were kept back during that time, but more than likely if they were, they were destroyed during the War of 1812. Also, the 1790, 1800, and 1810 census of Virginia were destroyed during that time, I believe. Sometimes Tax Records are still available. Evidently some of my ancestors had Bible records handed down to them concerning my Hyde/Hansford family, but, with so many children and descendants it is hard telling who ended up with the originals. You might try going into other genealogy web sites for the Hyde and Underwood families, and someone may know where they were buried. It is pure luck though, when these older graves still have a marker. The information I have states that both the Underwood and Hyde families were originally from North Carolina; however, one records shows they were married in Norfolk, VA., in 1734. Maybe they remained there all of their lives, and were buried there. pfg
