My great great grandfather was John Hyde (b 1825, d. 1872), listed on his tombstone in Wilmington, DE as "a native of County Cork, Ireland." He emigrated to the US during the Hunger. My uncle had a genealogist do some research, and traced the family to Ballyvourney. John had several brothers, one of whom was Daniel; this info came from the Inchegeelah parish records, which are on the Internet. I was on a tour of Ireland in July 2003, and our bus driver was kind enought to stop in BallyV long enough to take a photo and get a drink. I asked in the little corner store if anyone knew of any Hydes in the area. One lady replied, Oh yes, on the Mulliganish Road. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to find them. There is also a John Hyde listed in BallyV as a sheep breeder. Please contact me if you have any additional info.
