I'm hoping that someone on the Hyde board may be able to help me out. I need info on the family of Mattie Alice Hyde, born 18 July 1881 in Webster Parish, LA. She married Jordan Edmond Wattis in 1900, and lived in Cotton Valley, Webster Parish, LA until her death in 1974. I have some info that her parents were Joshua Square Hyde and Nancy Parmelia Lee. I did uncover a J.S. Hyde, married to Nannie Hyde, and living in Claiborne Parish on the 1880 Census, but have not been able to confirm a connection to Mattie. I am searching for confirmation and/or additional information on Mattie's family line. Your help will be deeply appreciated. Thank you.

Surnames: Benjamin Hyde, Thomas Hyde Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/4Yk.2ACIB/1122.1 Message Board Post: I wonder if they aren't related to other Hydes, specifically a Benjamin Hyde of Annapolis Maryland. I've heard that a lot of Tory families moved from the 13 colonies to Canada to excape persecution/retribution when the war ended. And they often sought places with familiar names. Any ideas? I'm related through my mother to a whole slew of Hydes of Annapolis Maryland, some of whom have descendents scattered around the country now, including two direct descendents (second cousins to me) who live in Kileen Texas. One of the Annapolis Maryland Hydes was Mayor of Annapolis Md. Right after the Civil war. His grandfather was purportedly a "financieur" of the American Revolution. Just curious

My grandfather, Theodore Coglin Hyde was his son, but he wasn't born until 1851. I located this record because the later censuses showing my grandfather (and his brother BJ) in Texas showed that they were both born in Louisiana. So, I am pretty sure this is correct. Sorry, I haven't done any research on the other children of Benjamin sr. and Milly Cherry.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/4Yk.2ACIB/992.2.2.3.3 Message Board Post: In your post of 10-26 you state: "Benjamin J was born in 1813 in Davidson County, TN. His parents were Benjamin Hyde and Milly Cherry and his ggparents were: John Henry". I have been looking at this Benjamin [W] Hyde and Milly Cherry family from the 1850 and 1860 censuses. It is hard to establish their children, but the 1850 census shows a Benjamin H. age 24 in their family [would be born about 1826]. May I ask what sources you have for Benjamin J. born 1813? Do you know for sure of other children of Benj and Milly? This couple is fairly well documented [he is son of Henry Hyde]; It's just their children which are unknown. Thanks

    1. James Hyde Rowan Co. NC
    2. Hello,,,this is my first post in a long time,,, I'm searching James Hyde, husband of Lydia Cowan (d/o Capt Thomas Cowan) (my 4th great grandparents) I was going over my notes, regarding the parents of James,, and here is what i found, which makes no sense,,(these notes came from various people on the list a few years ago) 1. I have James died 18 January 1844,,, 59 yrs 5 mos 12 days, making him b. 1785 . I have his parents as, John Hide and Margaret Thompson, but I have a marriage date for these two, of June 22, 1803 ???????????? I have as John's Parents,,,Benjamin Hyde and Margaret Hughes with a child James born 1785,,, and a son John so I'm thinking, that John Hyde married to Margaret Thompson is really James' brother,,,and James is actually the son of Ben and Margaret Hughes Any thoughts or proof??? I don't think that i have any proof of either or,,,,these are just notes,, let me hear from you,,,,Melinda

During the birth of Mary I have not found out the exact maiden name of his wife at that time. Also I have no records of this particular marriage, but have heard from MANY family members that her name was Mary or Martha Francis Barnett or Burgess no family members have any records or proof. John Waltsy Hyde was a brother to Mary, and a sister to my husband's grandmother Ollie Victoria (Hyde) Garmon. I am willing to swap info' and pictures on a great number of family members if you are. Do you live in GA? I am excited to have found kinsman for our Hyde family. Please email me at tonniec@alltel.net ASAP ! Blessings to the family !
