    1. [HUTCHCRAFT] Roll Call - Hutchcraft through Hardy Rhodes
    2. Vickie and Ronnie
    3. Hi everyone! Hardy Rhodes was my ggg grandfather, born April 16, 1820 in North Carolina and died January 27, 1896 in Gasconade County, Missouri. I believe his sisters were Mary (married to Harrison Hutchcraft) and Eliza (married to Elijah Hutchcraft). They lived very near Hardy in Wayne County, Illinois. I would be interested in more info on these ladies. I would be delighted to share what I have about Hardy. Vickie

    1. [HUTCHCRAFT] From List Mom - Thank you
    2. Kathleen
    3. Dear List Members, I belong to many mailing list besides the ones I am List Mom for. I had a real eye opener this weekend on several of them and it made me appreciate each of you more than you will ever know. I saw members putting each other down, demeaning one another, screaming at each other if one could scream via an e-mail. I saw new members leave because they were made to feel foolish only because they did not know the rules of the list. I feel blessed to be the List Mom of your list and I thank you with all of my heart for the manner in which you handle yourselves on it and for the way you treat each other. Because of each of you I am able to take care of as many lists and I do - and love each and every moment of it. Kathleen Burnett List Mom

    3. Dear List Members, I will always be glad to help you unsubscribe if you have a problem or even if you have forgotten how, but just as a reminder if you go to Password Central located at http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ and type in your e-mail address and ask for a list of all Rootsweb lists you belong to, you will, within a few moments receive it via e-mail. You can unsubscribe from any or all of the rootsweb lists you are on from it. I thank you for your continued support. Kathleen Burnett List Mom

    1. [HUTCHCRAFT] From List Mom - Calling our Quiet Members
    2. Kathleen
    3. If you are one of those quiet members who have not posted your line yet, I would like to invite you to post it this weekend. It will be a good way for us to get to know you and to find out if you might know the answer to one of the missing genealogical clues some of our members may be looking for, or if one of our members just might hold the clue you have been looking for. I look forward to hearing from you. Kathleen Burnett List Mom

    3. Dear List Members, Rootsweb is slowly coming back. The messages are beginning to trickle through. We are not able to get on Rootsweb.com or am I able to get into the List Utility pages yet. Password Central is not available either. I am sure before this day is out we will be back to normal though. Just a few items I would like to bring to your attention. 1. In the course of a day I receive many requests to help members unsubscribe. Before you ask me to help, which I am always happy to do, send on the word UNSUBSCRIBE to [email protected] (XXXXXX being the name of your list.) If that does not work, then you can go to Password Central and ask for a list of all mailing lists you are subscribed to. You will receive an e-mail posting of these lists and you can unsubscribe from it. http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ 2. Please check your subject line when sending back to the entire list. Make sure it covers the subject of your posting. The very person you want to read it may just delete it if you are looking for the history of John Smith and the subject line talks about burial place of Isaac Kirkpatrick. 3. If you are responding to a message, please delete some of the past postings from the bottom on your e-mail. After there has been several responses the amount of un-needed information that tags along is causing many of our members problems with the size the e-mail becomes. Again, thank you for your support of me and of the list rules. It is because of each of you that this list is the success it is. Kathleen Burnett List Mom

    1. [HUTCHCRAFT] From List Mom - Regarding Down Time
    2. Kathleen
    3. Dear List Members, Starting at 8 a.m. PST Friday, February 23, RootsWeb will begin a planned temporary downtime for maintenance of its servers and hosting process. It will limit this downtime as much as possible, and will return with increased performance and reliability for future growth. The down time will be about 24 hours. If you do not receive any postings during this time do not worry, all will be back up and running soon. Your List Mom is going to take a 24 hours nap. Kathleen Burnett List Mom

    1. [HUTCHCRAFT] 7:30 AM REPORT - FROM LIST MOM
    2. Kathleen
    3. Dear List Members: It looks like the flood will miss each of you, unless there is a second wave that I don't know about, but it hit me with full force from about 70 of my lists. I am not sure if and when it will be over but I have received and deleted hundreds and hundreds of bounced messages. I have also received more than I can count requests to be subscribed and unsubscribed. I will work my way through these. I have to check each one of them to make sure it as it should be. This will take time. Thank you. As usual, you were willing to do all that was necessary to help make this list run smoothly. Your many messages of support touched me and gave me strength to deal with this mess on my side. Kathleen Burnett List Mom

    1. [HUTCHCRAFT] ONE MORE ITEM - REGARDING PROBLEM - FROM LIST MOM
    2. Kathleen
    3. One more item: In all of this mess, you might have been unsubscribed from a list by the system. I suggest you go to Password Central http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ and type in your e-mail address and ask for a list of mailing list you are subscribed to. You will receive it in just a few moments. This way, you can see if you have been unsubscribed from a list you do not want to be removed from. I can see this is going to be a long night. 1. [HUTCHCRAFT] IMPORTANT - FROM LIST MOM - PLEASE READ
    2. Kathleen
    3. There has been a major problem with certain lists on Rootsweb since last Friday. I am not sure how this list is going to be effected by the crashed server at Rootsweb, you were not one directly effected. The server is up and running again and I have a favor to ask each of you. If you begin receiving a large amount of messages that have backed up in the system since last Friday. Please be understanding, USE YOUR DELETE KEY, yelling and screaming will not stop it. I am holding on for dear life. I will have messages coming to me from 171 mailing lists hitting me all at once along with bouncing messages and messages from those of you asking for help. Together we will get through this and look back on this day as the "Day of the Rootsweb Flood", and laugh. If you have asked to be unsubscribed, that request was most likely never received. Please understand that even if I unsubscribe you now, I cannot stop what you are going to receive. If the lists do not look the same, meaning the headers are gone. I will bo back and take care of that when this flood is over. Good luck and I look forward to getting back to normal when the sun is again shinning. Kathleen Burnett List Mom

    1. [HUTCHCRAFT] From List Mom Regarding The Annual "Influx" of "Newbies"
    2. Kathleen
    3. Dear List Members, It is that time of year again when we suddenly will have an influx of new online genealogy enthusiasts with their holiday gift computers that are usually newer and faster than what many of the rest of us have. For a great many of them, it will be their first time online. Some of them will make mistakes and some may (will) unintentionally do things and write things that may be irritating to us and against what we have set up as our list rules. Please take this into consideration in advance and be helpful to them. If things get out of hand, know that I am behind the scenes taking care of the problems. Just remember, one of these new members might hold the clue you have been searching for. Let us not discourage them before they have a chance to learn how this works. I would like also to take this time to wish each of you and yours a wonderful and safe Holiday Season. Kathleen Burnett List Mom

    3. Dear List Members, I am going to leave in the morning, November 15th, for 5 days. I will be attending a Manager's Retreat for my company and will be home this coming Sunday evening. I have way to many lists to find List sitters for them, so I need to ask a favor from each of you. If anything happens on your list which is out of line and against our list rules, not matter what, PLEASE let it pass and just delete it. Know that each evening I will be checking on things from my hotel room and will take care of any problem that happened during the day. I know sometimes it is hard to not say something, but it would help me a great deal if you would just let the offense pass. One more item, if you are needing me to help you unsubscribe, be understanding if I don't respond as quickly as I try to. I will only be near the computer in the evenings in my hotel room. Sending the message more than once to the entire list will not help. I appreciate each of you and all that you do to help my life as your List Mom to run as smoothly as it does. See you on Sunday. 1. [HUTCHCRAFT] Elijah and Harrison Hutchcraft
    2. Vickie and Ronnie
    3. I am looking for any information on the wives of Elijah and Harrison Hutchcraft. It is my understanding from other posts on the internet that Elijah's wife Eliza's maiden name was RHODES as well as Harrison's wife Mary Ann. They lived on each side of my ggg grandfather, Hardy Rhodes, in Wayne Co., IL on the 1855 state census and the 1860 federal census. I am suspecting that they are his sisters. I have not been able to find out about any of his siblings or parents. There are family stories that his father's name was John but I have no proof. Any help at all is appreciated. Vickie

    1. [HUTCHCRAFT] From List Mom - Happy Thanksgiving 2000
    2. Kathleen
    3. A Tribute to our Ancestors on this day of Thanksgiving. THEY did not choose us, nor we them; we never knew them, nor they us; yet we are inextricably bound together for all eternity and there is no law in the universe, no metamorphosis physical or spiritual, that can ever alter this inalienable truth. OFTEN we may wish for different ones and feel moved to deny the ones we have, but this is as futile as it is foolish to invent spurious ones, for our deception will surely be unmasked, if not by others, ultimately by our own conscience. WE owe everything, our very existence, to our ancestors, and yet we know next to nothing of them because mostly their lives were so humbly recorded. It is good that we seek to expand our knowledge of their lives so that we may better understand our own. THEY made us, body and soul, and we must accept without complaint or rancour what they were and what we are, for nothing and no-one can ever change this fact and it is barren folly to dwell obsessively upon it. WE recognize that the legacy of genetic inheritance is a double-edged sword. We should be grateful for those gifts of personality and disposition our ancestors bestowed upon us which we find beneficial and not rail against those traits we find less appealing, for it is surely in our own hands to change them. WE should take pride in our ancestors and their achievements wherever possible, whether high-born or low, rich or poor, prince or pauper, and not seek arbitrarily to revile or condemn them for acts of which we know nothing of the causes. WE must learn from them, from their mistakes as well as their successes; from their tragedies as well as their triumphs; from their sins as well as their virtues; from their hopes as well as their fears. POSTERITY and history are irrevocably interwined in the present. No coherent vision of the future can exist without an affinity for the past and cognizance of the lives of our forebears. REMEMBER that we, too, are the ancestors of those yet unborn and we should seek to leave for them a heritage of which they can be as proud as we are of that which our forebears bequeathed to us. WE bless and thank our ancestors for the legacy of the good things they gave us, forgive them their errors and pray that we will endeavor to use wisely the knowledge which they handed down to us. © Roy Stockdill 1997 My best wishes to each of you and yours on this Thanksgiving day. 1. [HUTCHCRAFT] From Your Very Proud List Mom
    2. Kathleen
    3. Dear List Members: I can't even begin to describe how very proud I am of each of you. Today was a day that we could have had major problems on our mailing lists due to improper postings, and wouldn't you know it, I was also out of town attending a meeting and could not keep an eye on the computer to stop problem postings if they happened. When I got home this evening, the first thing I did was to check my e-mail to make sure all of you were ok. I want you to know that I am the list mom 121 mailing lists and there was not one political message posted on any of them, but on some of the lists that I am just a member of, I saw complaints regarding political postings and out of control conversations. Again, I am touch at your support of me and your support of the manner I choose to run your lists. I bow my head in awe at you as a group. Thank you! Kathleen Burnett List Mom

    3. I have received personally, many messages asking that I allow political postings and conversations on our lists during these next few weeks. My answer was No and will continue to be No. The Mailing Lists I am the List Mom for, are for genealogical purposes only. Please respect this decision and do not post them or ask for permission to post them. I will consider any and all political postings Spam and remove the sender from the list. I am sorry if this offends some of you but my decisions are made with the majority of the list members in mind. Kathleen Burnett List Mom

    1. [HUTCHCRAFT] FROM LIST MOM - 3rd Quarterly Report
    2. Kathleen
    3. Dear List Members: It is that time again for your 3rd Quarterly Report for 2000 as to the membership of this list. The Hutchcraft Mailing List has 4 members, 4 of these are subscribed to the Regular List and 0 to the Digest List. I want to thank each of you for continuing to help make this list the success it is. I also want to thank you for your support of me and you willingness to follow the list rules. Just a reminder as to the rules of this list so that it is better for each of us. Posting of virus warnings, test messages, chain letters, political announcements, current events, items for sale, personal messages, flames, etc. (in other words - spam) is NOT ALLOWED and will be grounds for removal. Consideration for exceptions, contact me at [email protected] Also the calling for Roll Call is not allow by members of this list. If you feel the need for a Roll Call contact me and we will schedule one with a beginning time and ending time. There is a great Rootsweb site you can go to if you want to find out what Rootsweb lists you are a member of, just follow the instructions. http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ If you would like to visit the Archived messages of this list, go to http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ and type in the name of the list you would like to search. There are a few items I would like to suggest for the benefit of each of us. 1. If someone posts a message to the list that should not have been posted, please just delete it. Know that I am taking care of the problem. If you post your unhappiness, then you just continue on the problem. I know it is hard when your heart has been offended, but for my sake, and the sake of the list, please just delete it. Rootsweb has a wonderful Spam Detective and it stops most of it. You should see what comes across my screen. I have to look at each of them to make sure that what was stopped was truly spam. Once in a while, one slips by though and if this happens, just delete it and go on with what we all love, genealogical research. 2. If you would put the subject of your posting in the subject line it might give you a better chance to attract someone's attention who has the information you are looking for or the attention of someone who is searching for what you are posting. I do want to thank each of you for your support of me. I remember the day I decided to adopt ONE mailing list, I was so scared. Today I am the proud List Mom of 84 of the best lists out there. I watch the problems other lists have and see how the member's treat one another and I feel blessed to have each of you on my lists. THANK YOU! Kathleen Burnett List Mom [email protected]
