This has been received from the Rootsweb administration: Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state. Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb. As an alternative to RootsWeb Mailing Lists, Ancestry message boards are a great option to network with others in the genealogy community. Message boards are available for free with an Ancestry registered account. Thank you for being part of the RootsWeb family and contributing to this community. Sincerely, The RootsWeb team We are presently setting up email groups at https://groups.io/. If there is interest in migrating this list to groups.io please respond to this message to that effect ASAP. With heavy hearts, Jim and Di
We just wanted to encourage you all to make use of this list in your family searches. A large number of Rootsweb lists have been made inactive due to no messages over a period of time. We want to keep as many lists active as we possibly can and your participation will help toward that goal. If you have a "brick wall" in your family search, send in a message with as much information as you have and let's see if someone may be able to help fill in those blanks. Best wishes, Jim and Di
Please allow me to introduce myself. I am Jim (Pops) Jackson and have been given the privilege of acting as List Admin for the HUTCHCRAFT List. I have been active with Rootsweb for nearly 20 years and have received great pleasure in doing so. I hope this message will help spur renewed activity with offers of helpful information, requests for help etc. Obviously this means that Rootsweb is back in active status after a period of difficulties that have been dealt with and needed upgrades made. If you have not already done so, you may register at https://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/postorius/lists/ and be able to see all the lists to which you are subscribed as well as control how your messages are delivered, etc. I hope to hear from you soon with your comments, information and questions. Best wishes, Jim

Mary Ann was born 27 June 1815 in Kentucky. Parents of 9 children. Does anyone have any information about Mary Ann having Indian heritage? I found a site that gave her a, possibly, middle name of "Waccabba". My mother says that someone in her line was from the Potowatami Tribe and someone else said she was Cherokee. I haven't been able to find any evidence, other than heresay, but would love to know if this information may be accurate. Thanks for any help anyone can give! Peter Grant Thomason was my grandfathers half brother. I also have other information on Louisa but it won't help us figure out her parents. I know that Grant was married before but didn't think he had been married twice before so maybe they mean with this marriage it makes 2. I also found Etta McKnight in the 1880 census at the home of her sister. Lulia Albert in White Co., IL. She's 24 so if this is the same Etta McKnight it doesn't make sense. Louisa was born about 1874. Louisa was married in 1895 so that would have made Etta 39 the time of Louisa's marriage and 18 at the time she had Louisa. It seems to be the right Etta McKnight as far as age goes. I'm wondering why she has her maiden name, did they get divorced or is the James that married Nancy in 1878 the wrong James and the wrong father for Louisa. Maybe it's the right James and Etta took back her maiden name. Very confusing. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I have their marriage certificate and they were married on 3/13/1895 in Hamilton Co., Ill and on the certificate is James Hutchcraft and Etta McKnight as her parents. Grant and Louisa had both been married twice before. I had completely forgot I had this marriage certificate. Your right with the names but it does look like Henrietta was her mother. Do you know who was James Hutchcraft's father? I am related to the Hutchcrafts from both my Dad's and Mom's side of the family. My Great-Grandmother was Nancy Ann Hutchcraft daughter of William Alfred Hutchcraft and Elizabeth Catherine Stanley. So I'm wondering if James and William are related. James was first married to Henrietta McKnight; however, Louisa's middle name indicates she would likely be d/o Nancy. I've not yet found her with husbands in 1900 census...will continue to look.
