    1. [HUNTER-L] Info on Dorcas Hunter
    2. I cannot recall what the original question was on Dorcas Hunter, but I had to go dig in my stored files to get the few pages of the book i had, it was Hutcheson and Allied Families, from the Chattanooga,TN public library. At any rate it says Dorcas Hunter was the Daughter of Samuel Hunter and Catherine Poteet, Dorcas was born April 19, 1830 in Buncombe Co, moved to Meigs Co, Tn with her parents when she was about 3 years old (1833) she married William Caswell Hutcheson on October 23, 1850, and died January 5, 1922 in Chattanooga, Tn. Dorcas was named for her maternal grandmother, Dorcas Henderson Poteet. Colonel James Poteet was the grandfather of Dorcas Hunter Hutcheson. Dorcas' father, Samuel HUnter was a brother to my great, great grandfather, Robert Hunter. so Dorcas would have been a first cousin, four times removed to me. Samuel and Robert Hunter were sons of William HUnter of Buncombe County, it also says in the book that WIlliam lived in Rutherford Co, NC before moving to Buncombe Co, if he did indeed move, as Buncombe County was formed in part from part of Rutherford County, NC, (I am embarrassed to say I forgot to give thought to that small detail.) There is also speculation in "the book" that Williams father was a Samuel HUnter, as a Samuel HUnter was on the tax list of Rutherford County in 1782.!!! Also states that William HUnter went over the mountains to Greene County, Tn to find Anne Caldwell, but I have checked this out, and there is not anything I could find in Greene County, Tn to prove this, (I wondered if she might have meant Greenville, SC ?) Or even Greene County, NC ? Oh, well. I only have a few pages of this book, but I hope this is helpful to someone. Genie
