    3. Here is a posting of civil war information on the sons of James A. (believed to be Alston) Hunter b. between 1792-1795 NC/SC d. May 20 1844 Choctaw Co., MS and Martha P. Harris b. Mar 20 1805 Baldwin Co., GA d. Feb 15 1879 in Webster Co., MS. Sons of James Alston Hunter and Martha Harris in the Civil War: (1) Sylvanus Gardner Hunter, Company H, 31st Regiment, MS Infantry. (2) Leonidas W. Hunter, Company B, 29th Regiment, MS Infantry. (3) Marcilus Samuel Hunter, unknown unit, but enlisted September 30, 1861, at Camp Moore, LA. Taken prisoner on July 4, 1863, at Vicksburgh, MS. (4) Whitson Hunter. Unknown unit, but allegedly killed during Civil War. (5) Gregory Turner Hunter, Sgt. Company H, 31st Ms Infantry. Enlisted April 26, 1862, at Persimmon Spring. Reported AWOL July 17, 1863. Appointed SGT. from ranks September 1, 1863. Discharged February 28, 1865. (6) Henry Saunders Hunter, Sgt., CO. B., 15th MS Infantry. Enlisted March 22, 1862 at Winona, MS in Company B, known as "The Winona Stars of Carroll County". Wounded and captured, later paroled at Greensboro, NC. (7) Pinson Calvin Hunter, Pvt., CO. B, 15th Regiment, MS Infantry. (8) Baldwin Hunter, CO. B, 15th MS Infantry. Out of 10 boys, 8 fought in the Civil War. http://www.aristotle.net/~rfurr19
