Mr. Hunter was a veteran of the Civil war. He was born on the Hunter Farm ,two miles south of McDonald,which had long been in the family.His parents were John Hunter and Nancy Greer,the father dying in 1868. In 1878 Mr.Hunter married Miss. Ella Harper,who survives. The couple resided practically all of their married life in McDonald. Five children also survives; George H.Hunter,Wheeling W.Va, Mrs. C.L.Ruch ,Lancaster,O; Mrs.E.L.Kunkle,Tellico Plains ,Tenn; Mrs .C.T.Turney of McDonald; Miss. Elizabeath Hunter of the home. J.A.Hunter of this place, a brother,and a sister ,Miss Nancy Hunter ,of Pittsburg,are also living. Mr. Hunter served through the Civil war as a member of the Twenty-third Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. He fought in the battle of Fredeicksburg.In that engagement,although the men immediately on either side of him were shot,he escaped unscrathed. He was a member of the Prohibition party; for many years he serve as an elder in the Robinson Run United Pres church. Funeral services will be held at the late home Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in charge of the service Rev. J.B.Cavitt,pastor of the Robinson United Prybytireain church.
