I am again looking for information on my great grandfather, William Samuel Hunter born Dec. 25, 1826 in KY and died April 28, 1975 possibly in east TX. I have not been able to locate a place of death. He was married to a Grace Ann Davis (Darup) (born abt. 1840 in MS) in Gonzales County, TX on November 1 or 2, 1858. They had two children: William Samuel Jr. and Thomas Ann. He then married Martha Locke Davis Miller (born March 5, 1833 in TN and died November 10, 1893 in Gonzales County, TX) in Gonzales County, TX on April 19, 1865. They had three children: Mary Emily, Robert L. and Joseph Alexander. Martha had been married to a W. Miller and they had two children: William W. and Fannie. My grandfather always told the "story" that his father had owned land and horses in KY and was a horse trader. Also he may have left KY or TN under questionable circumstances. The story was that he had been married and had found that his wife had been "dallying" with a soldier. William may have injured or possibly killed this man. After this he left the area. This is only a story!!! He appeared in Gonzales County TX in the early 1850's. I am hoping that there is someone out there that can help me find exactly where he was born and who his parents were etc. Thank you in advance for your help. Kathy Huber Bruce
