    3. Alexandria, VA was established by the Alexanders for which it was named. There were, however, Hunters who married into this family of Alexanders. The first Alexander,of this family of Alexanders, John Alexander, came to to Va in1657. Alexandria was established later on some of his original land grants. His sons Robert and Phillip Alexander inherited the land.
