I had an uncle, JAMES BATES, whose middle name was HUNTER and the family says, but does not prove, that Hunters were ancestors to the BATES. My uncle was JAMES HUNTER BATES and he was born at 2430 Mole street in Philadelphia in 1903 to WINFIELD SCOTT BATES and ELIZABETH MARIE BATES nee MOHR.[LIZZY] Who married in 1901. JAMES' sister MARY ELIZABETH BATES married JOSEPH EDWARD ALMOND on JUNE 28, 1922 and was my grandmother. Anyone that this information sounds familiar to? Please respond.
