    3. Penny, try the US Census'. They should give you all the clues you need for that period. Find French in 1910. It will give you his parent's ages and location of their birth. Using that go back to 1880 (maybe) and get George's parents. Any census from 1850 on will list all the family, their ages and birth locations (as well as lots of other useful information). The later the census, the more the information (as if the number of bathrooms were important).
