If at first you don't succeed.... =) Still looking for John HUNTER b. abt. 1828 in Scotland. (We believe his parents may be Robert HUNTER and Isobel KING. Three children are listed for these parents in the Old Monkland Parish Records: 1825 Anne; 1827 Robert; and 1828 John) John married--another, of course--Isabelle KING, dau. of John KING and Martha CRICHTON. They may have married in Ontario, or in Wayne Co. MI. We found John and wife Isabelle involved in land deals in Sanilac Co. MI in the 1850's-1860's and also found them in the 1860 and 1870 Census for Wayne Co., along with two sons, Robert (b. abt. 1854) and William (b. abt. 1858). John apparently died between 1870-1880, as in the 1880 census, Isabelle is married to Charles WELLINGTON, and William, as well as mother, Martha, are living with them. We believe they came from Scotland to Ontario, and then to Michigan, but other routes are possible. If you see a connection, please let me know! Thanks so much, Judy
