I have an Elizabeth Hunter, probably b. ca. 1769, who married Thomas Champion (5 May 1736 - 1808) as his second wife bef. 1789. He married first, Abigail Townsend on 5 May 1763. She must have died after 1766. Elizabeth's sons' names were Joseph, Daniel, Robert, John, and James; her grandsons by her son Joseph were named Andrew Hunter, Robert Cameron, William James, and Mark Adams (the latter for his maternal grandfather). Thomas had a brother James and John was a common Champion name, otherwise the boys' names appear to have come from Elizabeth Hunter's family. Robert Cameron may have been her maternal grandfather, and her father's name may have been Andrew Hunter. An early NJ presbyterian minister was also named Andrew Hunter. The Champions, however, were Methodists. All of this probably just contributes to the confusion about early NJ Hunters!
