    1. [HUNTER-L] Descendants of Jesse Bowman HUNTER (1805-1876)

    3. Searching for descendants of Jesse Bowman HUNTER, b. 17 Sep 1805, d. 8 Jun 1876 and wife, Malinda Catherine RUTLEDGE, b. abt 1820, d. abt 1870. I believe that they had 12 children: Robert G., Jesse Rutledge, Martha Virginia, William J., George Alonzo, Modest, Frances, James, Anna J., Minnie, Mollie, and Henry W., all born between 1840 and 1868. I am descended from George Alonzo Hunter so I have that part of the line down pretty well. I have found Modest's grave in Micanopy, Alachua Co, FL where she married a James Cooper MATTHEWS. Robert G. married a Eusebia MASTERS, Jesse Rutledge married a Mary Margaret TISON and Martha Virginia married a Celestino A LOPEZ. I do know that most of the family was, at one time, in and around the Micanopy (Alachua Co), Ocala (Marion Co), and Palatka (Putnam Co), areas in Florida. All of George Alonzo's offspring remained in that area, so it's a good bet that others did as well. I would like to exchange data with anyone who is descended from this same line. I can also furnish data on the ancestors of Jesse Bowman HUNTER back to their immigration from Switzerland. We have an active HUNTER group and have a biennial reunion coming up this year. Would love to hear from some new cousins out there. Warren Smith Tarpon Springs, FL

    3. Sorry, none of these people are in my family tree. We came from Great Britain before the Revolutionary War, settling first in Virginia, then western Tennessee, and then migrating to Texas in 1832. Most of the family is now in Oklahoma but some are still in Texas. John E.
