I am trying find information on Samuel Hunter. He was a Justice of the Peace in 1834 in Yancey Co.,NC. He had land on Cane Creek Area, the same area as Elijah Hunter b. 1810 and wife Jane Harwell had. I am wonderong if he is related. I think there was another Elijah Hunter that was married to a Howell in Yancey Co. but born in Rutherford Co.,NC. He had a child in 1830 named Riffa. Also, start with the 1920 census, which will show his state of birth and those of his parents and trace him backwards through the 1910 and 1900 censuses. All 3 are indexed. In the latter he should be living with his parents. The censuses and indexes are available at your local Family History Centers. Nedra

I would like to have more information about your Hunters.
Does anyone know any information about the Hunters who went into PA from NJ? Supposedly the Hunter family traveled with the Foster and Wood(s) families into PA together. I have been unable to locate exactly where they went. when and where they ended their travel. Appreciate any help anyone can give. Thanks for your time. F.Kay Hunter Roberts
Chris Thanks again, Maybe there want be six copies od my reply this time. Liz
Liz. Glad to be of help. I do not have a copy. The Clayton Genealogy Library in Houston has a copy. I live about a 30 minute drive away. Do not know if it is avialable for sale. Good luck in your research. Chris
Chris, I just found your information and I have been hunting the "Hunter" family in 1800 ?NJ for a long time! You mentioned the Hunters landed in NJ. My Aaron Hunter born 1800 in ? NJ was found on the 1840 Beaver Co.,PA census then went into IN. Do you know is the book is available for purchase??? I do not know Aaron's father or mother's name but the first child listed on the census in 1850 IN is William so that may have been it. Other male names included: Allen, David, George W and Aaron, JR. I have been waiting for a long time for this type of information. Thanks a million. I will ck with my local library for the source. By the way, how did you secure a copy? Hello, Fern. Sorry, the names do not sound familier. My Hunters did not stay too long in NJ, & Pa. before going to Va. But you never know in this hobby. Chris
