Melba (et al), The Martha Jane Hunter, b. 1 Apr 1860 in Palo Pinto County I have is the daughter of Abraham Mark and Sarah Ann Koen Hunter. I show that she married Jeptha Langford Clayton however. Are we talking about the same Martha? If so, I have her paternal line back to 1630. We also have a fair sized Hunter family organization with bi-annual reunions. Processioners Orders in Elizabeth Co., VA 1763 includes John Hunter. VA Genealogical Mag. Alexander, John and Jane Hunter came to America from Ireland about 1730. They had moved to County Antrim, Irl from Scotland where they left one sister. Have no documentation. John Hunter in Bedford Co., VA 1754-61 according to court records. Probably there much longer, need to get in my paper records. A John Hunter came from Scotland and settled near Fredricksburg, VA. Married Henrietta Davidson. Old Presbyterian Church in Appomattox Co., VA. John and Alexander Hunter witnessed will and did inventory of John Carson 28 Sep 1762. Am guessing John Carson wife was related to Alex and John. John Hunter land adjoined Alexander Hunter in Bedford Co., VA. I think with all these emails going directly to all of us that have signed up, that some of us/someone is thinking that the messages are directed entirely to an individual and not just to all that have signed up. I don't understand why all the messages are coming that way, but; if each reader looks at the messages, they are not directly to any such person. I know with my being Linda, some of the messages look like they are directed to me in entirely (?), when, they really aren't. Sir, You keep sending me this same message. I've responded that these Hunters are not related to mine. Are you not getting my emails? Is some program sending out these messages automatically for you? I also note that they are being send to "HUNTER-L" at rootsweb. That's not me. My family was in this country before the Revolution. They were in Virginia, then settled in western Tennessee in the early 19th Century. All of them moved to Texas in 1832, except for one (I've been unable to trace) who moved to Mississippi about the same time. My Texas Hunters are descended from George Elliot Hunter (1775-1835) who lived in Cincinnati, TX (Walker County). John E.
