Phebe Jane Richardson, my first cousin thrice removed, b. 22 Dec 1843, married Matthew Park Hunter, b. 03 May 1839. Both are buried in Monte Vista, Rio Grande County, Colorado. I have extensively researched Phebe's father, Cyrus J. Richardson, and would love to connect with descendant (s) of his daughter Phebe's family. Phebe and Matthew were parents of 11 children, three whom I know to be buried in Monte Vista. richardson@means.net or debrajrichardson@hotmail.com

Hunter, Where is Morganton located in NC? John Hunter, brother of Alexander, lived and died in Guilford Co., NC. Jane (Hunter) Martin came to NC after Hugh died to live and she died not long after her son the governor. My line comes from John and Henrietta (Davidson, she is listed in the book as John's wife), not comletely sure yet)) Hunter. Their daughter Alley/ Elly Hunter married a Joseph Tate, they lived also in Guilford Co. they died there. Their daughter Frances Tate married a Robert J. Ralston. Their son John Tate Ralston married a Lettie Harris. Their daughter Clariss J. Ralston married Benjamin Lawson Parks (these are my 2nd grt-grandparents). The Parks came from Va. to NC, Ga. and Ala. My grandmother was the last Parks in the family. She married a John Green Christian. The Christians are from the Ilse of Man, Va. Ga., Ala. and Texas. I am a direct decendant of Thomas Christian that came to Virginia about 1650 or so. So we are very "distant" cousins after all. Chris
Hunter, Here is a little more. James Madison Hunter, son of Alexander and Elizabeth (Steele) Hunter, married Mary McFarlane. They moved to Ky and died there I believe. One son went to Miss., then La. This son started the Hunter Clan in La. Another son ended up in Texas. From the book: An established facts, we know that our first American ancestors of the name was Alexander Hunter who, with an older brother John and a younger sister Jane came over from North Ireland. Their arrival in America can be said with confidence to have been approximately in the year 1730. We know that Alexander settled first in New Jersey, moved to Penn., and finely migrated to Bedford County (the exact location being now in Appomatic County), Virginia, where he died in late 1767 or early 1768. Chris
Hunter, Jane Martin is the sister of Alexander Hunter. She was married to Hugh Martin in NJ. Hugh died there and Jane went to NC to live with her son. He was the governor of NC at the time. She died a few days after her son did. Now there is a Jane Martin listed as a daughter of Hugh and Jane Martin. The book does not list who she married. Here is the children of Hugh and Jane (Hunter) Martin: 1. Alexander Martin 2. James Martin (1) Ruth Rogers 3. Robert Martin 4. Thomas Martin 5. Samuel Martin 6. Jane Martin 7. Martha Martin Here is the information from the title page of the book. THE HUNTERS of BEDFORD COUNTY VIRGINIA Notes and documents on the family of James Hunter, Regulator leader of North Carolina, including forebearers in Pennsylvanis, Virginia, North Carolina, Louisiana and Texas. by Walter Marvin Hunter, 1973 Printed by Polyanthos, Cottonport. Hi Chris, and thanks so much for the info on the book. Is the book still in print, and if so, where can I get a copy? I am indeed from Alexander and Elizabeth (STEELE) HUNTER. They are my 6G Grandparents. Jane MARTIN, my 5G Grandmother, married James HUNTER Sr, son of Alexander & Elizabeth. I just discovered Jane's first name. It was supposed that she was the aunt of a governor. Yes, I would appreciate any further information you have. I think I have found me a new cousin...or you found me. Some of your message is familiar concerning the Hunters in USA before 1800 and in NJ. My 3rd great grandfather was Aaron Hunter b.1800 NJ? but do not know his parents names or which county. He is found on 1830 Beaver Co.,New Sewickley Twp, PA and then he went on to IN. Children: William b.1830(marr: Bathsheba Eggleston), Catherine b.1832, Allen b.1834, George Wb. 1837 (possibly marr: Mary Polly Ledbetter), David b.1838(marr: Lydia Burns Jones), Aaron Jr b.1840(marr: Charolette Gant) and Margaret b. 1844(marr: Joseph E Gant/died in Howell Co.,MO). The first four were born in PA and the others in IN. So, does anyone out there have any of these connections or know which county in NJ to start my search for Aaron SR?? Thanks for your time. F.Kay Hunter Roberts

Elizabeth was born 25 Nov 1829 in AL and d 20 Mar 1878 in Monroe Co AL She m James Edward Lett 13 Feb 1845. I would like to know her background, as her parents, sibs, anything you would share. The other woman in his ancestry was Nancy Alston Hunter. Was she related to Elizabeth Boykin Hunter? Nancy was b 1794 and d 1852. She m Gen Edwin Davis King 10 May 1814. Guess it's time to throw my family into the mix again! My gggf, William Irwin Hunter, son of Elizabeth Irwin and grandson of William Irwin, was b. 1780 in Franklin Co., PA. Don't know his father or gf. Would like to! William md. "Miss Ray" in 1808, Franklin Co., PA. Moved to Mt. Pleasant, Westmoreland Co., PA, and had 3 dau. and 1 son, William R. (Ray?). "Miss Ray" then died, and William remarried Jane McCrelias (b. 1800, Ireland). They had 4 dau. while living in Mt. Pleasant. They then moved to Ashland, OH, and had 1 son and 2 dau. there. After William's son by Jane McCrelias, each generation had any number of dau., but only one son each for the next 3 generations (I'm the 3rd), and then no more sons in my line. I am fairly complete from William forward; however... siblings, parents, etc. backward have presented a major "brick wall" (one of our favorite terms!) Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Ted
John Hunter from Londonderry, Ireland came to US with two other Hunters in 1718. He settled first Worcester, MA and then Colrain and Pelham.
