Hello Rosemary - Thanks for getting back - What you have given me helps a little, but I still need to know from where he came - What part of Ireland? The name of his wife does not ring a bell either. I do not know a lot about Alexander Hunter other than what I have told you - I believe he arrived in Australia about 1850 and lived in Melbourne and married Harriet Palmer. Have you tried to obtain a death certificate for your Robert? Alexander and Harriet had a son named Robert and Alexander's father was Robert - coincidence? - Need more information - Regards - Richard
I understand from older family that my grandfather's name was james hunter, and he was born in ga. or tenn. I was told he died somewhere in oklahoma around 1908. Just hear say. I am a Hunter from arkansas, my father's name was Jess and he had several brother's and sisters. Harvey, Frank, Cal, Earnest, Dona, Ida Belle, and maybe more that we know nothing about. -----Original Message----- From: Bobby Smith <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Friday, October 08, 1999 10:13 PM Subject: Re: [HUNTER-L] James S Hunter, TN/AR >It is indeed an accomplishment, when you are able to find a Hunter connection. We >are all thrilled for you. >Can anyone tell me why so many Hunters left TN and went to AR? >If we knew, would we find that many were related? >God Bless, >Beverly Smith > > > >> From: [email protected] <[email protected]> >> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> >> Date: Friday, October 08, 1999 9:15 PM >> Subject: [HUNTER-L] James S Hunter, TN/AR >> >> >Yea!! We definitely need to persue this. I do recall my dad saying his dad (John W.) lived in OK for a time. If that is true, then James could have very well stayed there while his sons moved to Texas. I know that Jesse's twins were born in Little River Co, AR in 1879, but by 1880 they had moved to the top of the state to Yell Co. Apparently they did move around. I will try looking in the OK 1900 Census to see if I can find them. Let me know if you can think of other clues. Hello Rosemary - Could we get some more information? - From where did your Robert Hunter come from? From what group are you referring? Do you know where in Australia Robert settled and who he married? I have a great uncle, Alexander Hunter (1823-1895) who settled in Melbourne from Letterkenny, Donegal, Ireland - Talk to you later. Do you have other Hunter given names? - Richard
Hiya everyone, I am trying to find some information on the Hunters that came to Australia in the late 1800's.... The only person that we know from the group that came here is a Robert Hunter, who was born in 1893/5.. It is possible that he lived in Melbourne before moving to Sydney. If anyone can help me on this i would be grateful Thanks Rosemary Wood
Hello Everybody, I too am hunting for information on my Hunter family. My Great Grandfather is Robert G. Hunter, born in 1856, maybe in Michigan but no proof of where. Family stories says he is of Scottish descendents, again no proof. Robert married Mary Lang, she was born in 1859., and died in 1940. Robert died in 1935, both are buried together in Kosciusko Co., Warsaw, Indiana. The cemetery is called Oakwood Cemetery. Robert Grant & Mary (Lang) Hunter had three children as follows: (a.) William L. Hunter, b. 1884, d. 1955. buried in the same place with spouce. (b.) Mary Hunter, b. June 12, 1889, d. 1981. buried in the same place with spouce. (c.) Arthur Lee Hunter, b. May 10, 1899, d. 1952. William L. Hunter married Mary E., she was born in 1894 and died in 1967. No children that I know of? Mary H. Hunter married Howard W. Kaar, he was born in 1887 and died in 1977. No children that I know of? Arthur Lee Hunter married Maudie May Sickafus, she was born Aug. 03, 1907and died in 1995. These are my Grandparents. Arthur and Maudie divorced in 1942, they had 5 children from this marriage. This is all I have on my Hunter Family, Love to learn more!! Need info on Robert & Mary (Lang) Hunter parents, Also siblings if they had any?? Appreciate any and all Help on this family. Sincerely Cliff Hunter II, Thank You !!

It is indeed an accomplishment, when you are able to find a Hunter connection. We are all thrilled for you. Can anyone tell me why so many Hunters left TN and went to AR? If we knew, would we find that many were related? Hello to all from Oz. I am new to the Hunter list, and am just beginning my search for my Hunter ancestors but do not have any knowledge of the family history. My gmother, Elsie Alice Rae Hunter was born in 1883 in Victoria the youngest of 10. Her parents were James Hunter and Alenna Moore who were married in Moonee Ponds, Victoria in 1860. On their marriage certificate it states they were both born in County Antrim, Ireland. James occupation was listed as farmer, and Alenna as Lady. His parents were John Hunter (farmer) and .... Bay (this name is not particularly clear). Alenna's parents were Patrick Moore and Jane McMut.y (could be McMutry). The witnesses were Jane Moore, either her mother or sister and David Hunter (possibly a brother). Can anyone help me? Is it possible to use the IGI on the internet to research Irish counties, and if so, is there a batch number for County Antrim. I look forward to hearing from you. Tom, the Jesse (W) Hunter that Pam was speaking of was born 2 Apr 1840 in Rushville, Schuyler, Illinois. Six of his children were born in Missouri. Most of this information is available on the web off www.4udesigns.com (my main website). There is a link called the descendants of John Hunter. Most of that is there. Hope this helps. Let me know if you are related. I am working on next summer's Hunter Reunion. Pamela, Give me some dates and possibly locations on these HUNTERS. I have two different Floyd HUNTERS in my data base. One of them died as a small child.
