    2. I don't know about anything about other members thoughts about this subject but I do think that this site is not the place for people to do this kind of stuff. We are all supposed to be working for the same goals which is looking for information about our family history not mud slinging or be rude to other people. There is enough things going on in the world like that other places. Let's all work together and not let this happen again. Rose Marie

    1. [HUNTER-L] Genealogical County Map
    2. FYI There is a Genealogical County Map of the United States published by: The Everton Publishers, Inc. P.O Box 368 Logan, Utah 84321 1-800-443-6325 Order No. MP1 I received one from Emma Lee Sheffield (direct descendant of Gen. Robt. E. Lee) about 7 years ago during a genealogy workshop that she was conducting. It has all the counties marked and state boundaries. The cost listed on the map is $7.95 postpaid, but it may be a little more now. It has been a very valuable tool. Penny McConnell

    3. To the controller of this site and all its members, I am disgusted that you allow such rude people to slag off other members. If this cretin James had been able to use the one or two functional brains cell remaining, he may of realized that I was one of the many people in this world who have only owned a computer for a short time, and that it takes time to understand the internal workings and what parts a virus can damage. So was James born with instant and full computer knowledge? Or did he have to learn like the rest of us. So who is the Simpleton ? David

    1. [HUNTER-L] Re: Responsibility for Virus Alert Notification
    2. The Hunters
    3. We all have the responsibility to take proper action in regards to the viruses that increasingly plague the Internet & e-mail today. The first step is to install good virus detection software on our own personal computers and then --- keep the "dat" or "signature" files updated monthly or semi-monthly with downloads from the virus software vendor's web site. The next obligation we have is not to "fall" for all the gimmicks and hoaxes that abound. We simply clog up the e-mail with needless junk when we forward hoax alerts (like the recent A.I.D.S. virus warning) through the systems we regularly use and depend on (like rootsweb). If in doubt whether something is real or if one needs more info, we should go to a reputable site like http://ciac.llnl.gov/ciac/CIACHoaxes.html and check out our fears before announcing them (and our ignorance) to the world.

    1. [HUNTER-L] Hunter/Jaeger Researchers
    2. I would like to enlist the help of all researchers of the family of John Hunter(Johannes Jaeger) of Cherokee Creek, TN. There are several researchers of this family who have information on Isaac Hunter, youngest child of John and Barbara, that would indicate he had a son named David Hunter. Isaac was born in TN and it is asssumed he married Elizabeth Kiger in Rockingham County, VA in 1812. He and his wife both died in Indiana before 1820. There is mention of a daughter, Matilda, who was raised by relatives after her parents death. I am more interested in information linking Isaac Hunter and a son David Hunter. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Tracy Hunter

    3. Sarah, On a chart compiled by Thomas Harris in 1929 showing some descendants of Joshua Hunter b. 1709 m. Mary Conegenton, I have Benjamin B. Hunter b. 1805, grandson of Joshua and son of James Hunter b. 1767 d. 1831 and Martha Crowell. The children of Benjamin and Leah Nicholson were Mary m. Wm. Norman; Ellen m. Swain Norman; Samuel B. m. M. Brown, Ida Whitaker, and Mary J. Harris; Edward m. ? Wills; Sarah m. Ezra Bowers; Lillie m. Robt. Vinson. This was an Enfield N. C., Halifax County family. Children of Sarah (Sallie) are not listed. Some other surnames on the chart are Lewis, Bell, Bellamy, Godwin, Branch and Wyche. I do not have documentation for all of the chart but T. Harris notes that he used my father's family bible for names and dates to 1817. Unfortunately the bible disappeared after my fathers death. This does seem to be your family too and since Joshua Hunter was my 4g grandfather we may be cousins. Glad to share information. Ann

    3. Hello, I am fairly new to the list and decided to try posting my Hunter family question. My grandmother was Myrtice Hunter, born 1905, in Warrenton, Warren Co., NC. She always said her father was Manley Reeks Hunter and her mother Irene Watkins, both of NC. I located a Manly Hunter living as a boarder in Wake Co, NC, on the 1900 census (hence, no parents listed). The census stated he was born in 1879, but I have not been able to locate him on the 1880 census. I was hoping someone out there had a Manley Hunter in their files. I will greatly appreciate any information. Thanks! Betsy Knight Mechanicsville, VA

    3. Heya Robert, Well i have found another bit of info...... He came from around Bendigo/Ballarat area and died in his 50's so he may have been born in the 1880's.... Regarding your great-uncle, it may be a coincidence but it seems a bit more than a coincidence... In the near future, im going to try and get some info on his death certificate and also where he was buried.... that is something that i should be able to obtain Thanks Rosemary ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, October 10, 1999 12:55 PM Subject: Re: [HUNTER-L] Robert Hunter Info > Hello Rosemary - Thanks for getting back - What you have given me helps a > little, but I still need to know from where he came - What part of Ireland? > The name of his wife does not ring a bell either. 3. Hiya Robert, This side of my family happens to be one that is the least known...... The only information that i have found so far is that he was born around 1893/5 but he may have been born ealier than that and we are assuming that he has come from Melbourne as there was some family down there.... We know nothing about which part of the Hunter's he is from, I joined this mailing list in the hope of finding out more information on the Hunters He was married to a Rose McNamee (spelling seems to differ in alot of records that we have found) He enventually lived in Sydney Australia, where he died in 1930 (or thereabouts). I will try and get some more information from some of my relatives that may a little more about it, but it seems that there is not much known about him, even when he died we are trying to establish at the moment. Any information that you have on your great-uncle would be a great help.. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, October 10, 1999 8:41 AM Subject: Re: [HUNTER-L] Robert Hunter Info > Hello Rosemary - Could we get some more information? - From where did your > Robert Hunter come from?
