To Hunters seeking Mecklenburg Co. connections, Henry Hunter ancestry (also James and John Hunters from 1700s), and a variety of other miscellaneous Hunter kin - including Scot and IRE links and sources: I found a lot about the Henry Hunter and other Mecklenburg County, NC ancestors on a couple of sites that I've used before. These sites not only have your Henry/Humphrey, etc., but a whole lot of other Hunters. So others may find them useful also. For Donald Hunter: There are 1700 and 1800 Henrys, but the specific one you were asking about was born in Derry County, Ireland on August 11, 1751, as was his wife, Martha Sloan. They both migrated to and then died in Mecklenburg County, NC. Keith Hunter: I do have some info on David Hunter also, but it's sketchy. Sites that I think would help you and perhaps others (if you haven't already seen them) are: http://genforum.familytreemaker.com/hunter/messages/366.html contributed by Vince Hughes [email protected] http://genforum.familytreemaker.com/hunter/messages/299.html contributed thru e-mail [email protected] http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Hills/6975/familyindex.htm This is a Tosh Family website that has 3 generations of James Hunter in it with some other familiar given names. http://www.icon.net/%7esdcaller/d0001/g0000068.htm#I3754 has some on 1800s David Hunters and a lot of others. http://home.dwave.net/~skeeter/genealogy/g0002835.html#I31667 This site has John Hunter and all the Henry, John, James, Joseph, Isaac, etc. sons and several daughters in it from the 1700s, and then here is some really good info at the Clan Hunter site at: http://www.deakin.edu.au/~heather/hlinks.htm This latter could take several days to go through. I hope some of these sites are new to you and that you'll find them helpful. Would appreciate it if you would share your findings with the rest of us on this LIST, so that we may be able to connect as things fall in place for some of us. Don't mean to interfere in a two-way conversation here, but I have a little on the people you're seeking. You may already have this, but just in case... I have a William Hunter, who married Anna Caldwell (b.1762 in VA; d.1863). (Anna's parents were David Caldwell and Rachel Crawford - no dates in my file.) I show only a Robert (middle name Harvey?) Hunter as a child of William and Anna. He was b. 1/15/1786 in Rutherford County, NC; d. (?date) in Jupiter, Buncombe County, NC. On 1/14/1807, he and Susannah Stice (b.03/30/1788; d. (?date) were married in Rutherford County, NC. I show no Nathan in my group that would match yours, but in a query list I saw mention of a Nathan Hunter born abt 1800 sent in by this addressee: [email protected] Hope this helps a little. I have Nathan Hunter married to Susannah Edwards. He was born about 1784 in Juniper, Buncombe, NC. His parents were William Hunter and Anna Caldwell. I have these children for Nathan and Susannah: Thomas, Marion, Phoebe, Joice, Ellen, George, Hiram, Wiley, Phillip, William, Nathan. I come through Joice Hunter. I have info on George Washington Hunter and his wives, children and grandchildren. I am just starting to load the info onto a Family Tree program. Please contact me for any questions and I will be happy to send you what I have. Kathleen [email protected]

Susan, Thanks for your reply. The $7.00 checks have been cashed, which took 5 weeks for them to do that. So I'm hoping I will see something soon. I can say that it was very easy to request the copies, with the online system. I just printed out their letter with my people already printed on it. Thank you to whoever in the cyberworld that designed this helpful tool! Penny

Hi Penny I've written for many SS cards and it takes about 2 to 2 1/2 months to get them in. Susan
Someone told us 6 to 8 weeks, but say it's worth it. We sent away for some about 3 weeks ago. No response yet. I've been checking everyone's postings to this list over the past two weeks and have found a few leads for some. So, I'll look at all my sources for yours tomorrow also. And then I'll post all that I've found. Unfortunately, all of the ones I've seen so far are not related as far as I can tell - or at least not closely. Hello, I,d like to know if I'm the only one who has a Burrell Hunter among their ancestors? One source says he was the 2nd. son of Reuben and Sarah (Speight) Hunter, however, I've not been able to verify this. My mother was Alma Hunter - daughter of Charles George Hunter - son of George Theophilus Hunter - son of Burrell and Betsy (Brigance) Hunter. Burrell and family appear on the 1850 census for Denton Co.TX. George Theo. was serving as a Texas Ranger at Fort Belknap Tx. when Charles Geo. was born in 1862. I'd very much like to determine Burrell's parentage. Most grateful for any help at all. Thanks, Linda Allen

Hi all, I have a Thomas HUNTER (1827-1881) he is listed on the 1881 census as being born in Stockport, Cheshire, at the time of the census he was in Epworth, Lincs with his daughter Emma who was born in Hull, Yorks. His daughter Rachel (1859-1939)(my greatgrandmother) was born in Bollington, near Macclesfield. Rachel married John William KIDDLE on 30/12/1882 in Halifax, Yorks. at the time of the marriage Thomas Hunter is deceased. Rachel & John were in Louth, Lincs in 1881. Does anyone have any information on this HUNTER family, a great uncle informed me that the family were in "service" which may explain their movements. Or any info on HUNTER's in Cheshire, Lincolnshire & Yorkshire. Kevin Mossley, Lancashire, England
Thank you, Roy. Right now I can't fit him in with what little I know about my HUNTERs. I will keep the info and if I find anything more, will let you know.
