Cathleen, I don't know where Carrollton, TX is, but Austin has a great genealogy library in the State Library Archives Building next to the Capital. They have most of the states census indexes and much of the census on microfilm. The volunteers there are very helpful and will show you how to access this information. If you have any family from Texas that you are searching for, they also have all the death, marriage, and divorce records, and a whole room full of family books off to the back. Just ask. Good Luck! Brenda, we need more information. Have you tried the 1880 Census? Go to the Soundex first if you don't know the location. Find them there and you will find out were and when they were born. Go back to the 1850 Census to possibly find them as children (depending on birth dates). Someone that recent is fairly easy to find. If you are fairly new at genealogy, the majority of the 1890 Census was destroyed (only the 1890 Veterans Census generally remains). Barb, This is to give hope. I have an ancestor from the Meck line who I believed for over 20 years must have parachuted onto this earth from the heavens. Through the age of computer, and some wonderful people that I was able to contact because of the "net", I finally connected to his parents. WOW! Was I surprised to find he was one of 13 children, with the 7 youngest being bound out to families who moved all over this wonderful country of ours. In the genweb archives there are wills for Elisha and Margaret Hunter of Chatham Co NC. His is dated April 7, 1778 and hers is November 9, 1791. Listed as children are Elijah, Elisha, John, Sara and Mary, Andrew, James Jr. Aaron. Listed as grandsons are Elijah and Elisha.
