Conrad, Actually, I'm looking for information about Dorcas Hunter, daughter of John Hunter who was the son of John Hunter, brother of Humphrey. There are just so many Johns that I'm sure every family has a John Hunter but not all have a Humphrey Hunter. Dorcas was married to my gr-gr-grandfather, Stanhope W. Alexander and I am looking for whatever information I can find on both families. I have found a place to buy the book for $15.00 but wanted to be sure that it is the right Hunter family. Betty
Does anyone recognize this Daisy May Hillard b. Feb. 4, 1903 who married Robert William Hunter on Dec. 19, 1932 in Okalona, Arkansas? Sincerely, Neil Smith
Al, I am thinking of purchasing the book "The Hunter Family History". I was wondering if this has information about the North Carolina (Mecklenburg Co) Hunters, which would include the family of Humphrey Hunter , son of Henry Hunter. Thank you, Betty Wingo
I am digging in early Hunters in SE Pennsylvania. I am interested in Alexander Hunter and Hannah Hunter who appear in 1715 as being baptized at a church on the Brandywine. Alexander also appears on tax list in1725 in Middletown Township. They had a daughter,Elizabeth who made her will in 1774.Was Peter Hunter ,who also appeared on 1725 tax list in Middletown Township, their son? Any connection with Captain John Hunter in Chester Co.in 1722? Charles A.Hunter
Hi Al; I, also, wonder if you would mind doing look ups?

I'm seeking info on John Hunter, Jr. He was born in SC about 1820. He is listed on the 1850 Anderson Co. SC census. He died aug 1863. He married Eleanor ?, b 1820. They had at least 3 daughters, Susan b 1848, Lizzie b 1852 and Julia b 1859. The family is on the 1850 census, then disappear for the 1860 and 1870 census. Then Eleanor and the girls reappear on the 1880 Anderson Co. SC census. Does anyone recognize this family? Stacy

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, does either of your Hunter Books mention the Hunters of Buncombe Co, NC.? William, b. ca 1760, or his brother, Samuel, or Robert his son (1787-1873) ? Genie
I have aquired two references which might be of interest to the Hunters researching the family line. One is a photocopy I aquired in 1971. In reference to the Book the Hunters of Hunterston or of that Ilk. The "Ilk" part caught my eye. My great grandfather was a socialist. His name was William Black Hunter, born in 1856 in Scotland. Had a brother, also a socialist named Robbie Hunter. Robbie may have been involved with running guns to the Mexican revolutionaries around 1910 or before. William belonged to the Kawea Colony in Kings Canyon and later the Llano del Rio colony in the Antelope Valley, both socialist/idealist colonies in California. They are believed to have had some kind of store in Nicaragua before coming to California. Are they in the book? We think they may have left Scotland under a bit of a cloud.
I haven't found a good site for Gettysburg, either. My g-grandfather lived in Gettysburg. His name was Albert Maxwell Hunter. I think he was originally from Maryland because he was in a Maryland regiment in the Civil War. His father was Joseph Hunter. If you see anything about him, please let me know.
Hello Dear Hunters-- Do any of you have information about Gettysburg, PA such as its history in 1797? My GGGrandfather Archibald Hunter married Margaret Harvey Hunter several of my great-grandfathers have the name Harvey in their name--I assume that Harvey would be Margaret's maiden name. Until today---I found my Archibald Hunter listed at Ancestry.Com with all of his children. However, new information about Margaret his wife was different. They had her name as Margaret Griffin Hunter and that she was born in Gettysburg, PA on 5-12-1797. I have her birth date as about 1798.. I can't seem to find a good site for Gettysburg prior to Civil War--any help with this would be appreciated!! Thank you, Stephanie Hunter Mihelich (and Hunter is my maiden name :-) [email protected] Chillicothe, OH
