Where were all the #4 generation Hunters born? I'm looking for the parents/ancestors of my John Hunter that married in VA in 1850. He was born abt. 1827-1828, but I have no idea where really. James Hunter and Martha Kinkead lived in Ohio when their son William Black Hunter was born in 1854. They had at least one other child Robert and perhaps others. William married Melissa Newell and their son Lemna was born in Altamont, Labette Cty, KS. Other children were Susan Bernice Hunter and Fannie I. Hunter Friend. Does anyone have information on James Hunter b. in Ireland before 1834 and Martha Kinkead, b. England before 1836? Information on any of the listed children would also be immensely helpful. Sid

Hello, What I have on the Hunters is this 1. John Hunter md. (some say Henrietta Davidson, jury still out on her) 2. Alexender Hunter, md. Elizabeth Steele 3. Jane Hunter, md. Hugh Martin in NJ. There is a book out on the Hunter family, except the author did not trace John's family beyond his children. The book is "The Hunter Family of Bedford Co., Virginia"" by Walter Hunter. There may be some mistakes in it, but it points in the right direction. Chris

Does any one have an Aaron Hunter b.1800 ?NJ in there links with the Hunter families? His name may have been Nathan Aaron or Aaron Nathan. I have yet to find him in NJ with parents, of which I do not have names. He is found on th 1830 Beaver Co., NJ with wife and children. Then again in 1840, 1850(new wife in 1851 was Cynthia E Lawrence Ramsey) and1860 on the Ripley Co., IN census . Then in 1870-1880 he is in Franklin Co., IN where he died in 1889 at the home of his son David. Other children were: William, Catherine, Allen, Margaret, Aaron,Jr., and James. This Hunter family married into the Foster, Jones, Gant and Burns families from PA and TN. This Hunter family traveled with the Foster and Woods families into PA during the 1800's. Looking for info/possibly cousins of those listed below..... Alexander Hunter was born in Scotland about the year 1749. He was first recorded as a member of the Continental Navy in 1776-1777. Upon his discharge he immediately enlisted in the MA Militia ( his enlistment was credited to the town of Rehoboth,MA) for a 3 year term.. In Nov. of 1777 he married Sarah Peccom a widow from Dartmouth, MA. A son John B. was born abt. 1780 beleived to be the only issue. John married Hanna Thompson in New Bedford on Aug. 31, 1805. They had a daughter Emily and a son William Merry Hunter. It appears after Alex's death in 1822 the family moved to Providence, Rhode Island where Willam married Susan S Allen and Emily married Simeon Peckham . William served in the Civil War and had 7 issue. It is thought Emily and Simeon had no children. Williams' youngest son Alex was my grandfather and his son Charles A, born in 1904 was my father. She had several siblings, among them Thomas A., Jared Ware, William, Elizabeth, Emeline, and Ellen. I know that Thomas and Jared were the eldest and they were born in 1836 and 1838 respectively. Since I don't have dates for anyone else, I just guessed at when the others might have been born. Also, other than Thomas and Jared, I'm not sure of the birth order for any of them so Mary could have been born later than I think. Don't know if there were any more siblings born after these. I am seeking information on James Hunter who married Mary/Polly Hickman in Franklin County, Ky on April 9, 1818. Bondsman was Merit Redding. James had a son, James N. Hunter, but I am not certain Mary was the mother. James N. was born 'about' 1819, so he was probably her son too. James and Mary lived for awhile in Louisville and he died in 1837 in Shelbyville, KY. Mary died in 1854 in Henderson, KY and is buried in her nephew's plot. Her nephew, Fountain Cunningham, was the son of Mary's sister, Sally/Sarah Hickman. At the time of her death, Mary was recorded as Mary Owen. Buried around her are all the Cunninghams and a group of children who may have been Mary's by a second husband. There is no mention of a James N. Hunter. If I can find descendants of James or James N. Hunter, it would be a great help. I have good ancestry information about Mary Hickman. If you get a copy, I believe it has a picture of him. If you could put it (his picture) in a file with a scanner some of the readers of Seaver-L@rootsweb.com might be interested in it. If you find out how many pages I would send about .25 per page in cash to the librarian at the SA R library with an envelope and enough postage on it to return it to you at l oz per 5 pages. They probably will do 2 pages on an 8 1/2 xll sheet and maybe both sides but I would estimate high or include enough for postage with the cash. they only charge .05 or .l0 for the copy on the second side if you want to count that.
