This name is so close and being from New York also sends out flags but I cannot make a direct connection. My variety of Charles A. Hunt isn't born until 1830. I don't have a verification of what the A. stands for but he has a son named Charles Augustus and this comes down to a Charles Augustus the IV currently living. It is very likely that this family is related to yours, I just don't know where.
