Thank you so much, Carolyn I am also a descendent of John HUNT and Martha Jenkins. Many researchers believe that John HUNT was the son of Christopher HUNT and Caty Blassingame. There is some circumstantial evidence to support this but I feel it is still unproven because HUNT is such a common name. The first evidence of John HUNT and Martha is in a land entry in Greenville Co. SC of 1786. By 1796 the family was in Bracken Co. Kentucky and aroung 1816 moved to Edwards Co. ILL. Many memebers of the family joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints ( Mormons) A famous son Jefferson HUNT has extensive histories written about him. LDS records also show that Martha Jenkins was born in Ireland. ( The source was a grandaughter I believe.) About 40 years ago a professional researcher Leonardo Andrea was hired and performed a through search of the records of South carolina. His several hundred pages of notes are in the LDS family history center on microfilm. I would love to communicate with anyone doing research on JOHN HUNT ansd MARTHA JENKINS.
